Only 14% of Iowa ReTHUGS supported this literal smelly shitshow.
Cheer up - he is going down.
That is all.

Jury selection is expected to take a few hours in the morning and will then be followed by opening statements in a damages trial that could result in Trump's being hit with a judgment in the tens of millions of dollars.
Carroll is seeking at least $10 million for the damage Trump caused to her reputation and most likely several times that amount in punitive damages for continuing to publicly call her account of his sexual abuse a "con job" on TV and social media and at his rallies.
Trump has said he plans to testify in his own defense. "Im going to explain I dont know who the hell she is," he told reporters Thursday.

(42,264 posts)Media will pick up on the sliver of christian nationalist base's low numbers, and he'll drop in future primaries.
He'll be convicted before July. Then Rethugs will have to reinvent themselves and relearn how to work at getting elected. Lord knows they'll never be interested in governing for the country.

You do your due diligence early in the day, you'll get most of the major news stories, one or two of which will be beaten like a dead horse throughout the day on any given cable channel. I rarely if ever learn anything new from cable news, which is why I rarely watch it.

(78,065 posts)If anyone is pissed about Iowa, they need to talk to me. Or at least listen to me. Because this is a Good Thing. President Biden will beat the defendant by a greater margin that he would beat any of the republicans. In 2020, I said Biden would win by seven million votes. This year, he will beat him by twelve million.

H2O Man
(78,065 posts)is that Pee-Wee Herman's younger brother Ramaswamy has dropped out. This comes as a shock to those who honor the egg salad sandwich and Big Top Adventures.
Had Haley placed second, and scored in New Hampshire, DeSantis would have dropped out. This would have provided Haley with a less humiliating loss in her home state. In a sense, the more votes she gets, the better ...... because those voting for her include female republicans and those tired of the defendant. They are far, far less likely to vote for the defendant in November. Being a convicted felon will not inspire them to vote for him.
Were the November election between President Biden and anyone but the defendant, independent voters might vote third party, or not at all. With the defendant on the ballot, they are much more likely to vote for Joe. Biden.
bdamomma
(69,067 posts)you are the bright light at the end of a tunnel. Geez, I hope your prediction comes true.
H2O Man
(78,065 posts)It will. Here's two reasons why: first, the pressure from facing Jack Smith & Co will create increasingly unbalanced outbursts from the defendant, and second, those of us at the grass roots level are going to be active at a level we haven't been since 2008. Combined, we will crush him.
SpankMe
(3,610 posts)That 14% is getting a lot of leverage.
At the primary level with one or two competitors (i.e., Haley and DeSantis) real Trump-humpers will be in the low 20 %'s and even lower as a percentage of total eligible voters. That seems like small numbers.
But, as the saying goes - Democrats fall in love (with their candidates) & Republicans fall in line. Trump can take first place in contested primaries with numbers in the teens (as a percent of total eligible voters). But all Republicans and a significant number of right-leaning independents will vote for this pig in the General.
So, we shouldn't take low primary votes for Trump as a sign that he's weakening. Cynical, clueless morons will still vote for the Orange Creep in the general, even as he wins primaries by thin margins.

(3,610 posts)It makes me sad to hear of family members - especially parent/child - becoming alienated due to the cult of Trump.
I've been somewhat lucky. All members of my immediate and extended family who have voted Republican or are otherwise center-right, have not only abandoned Trump completely, but they're all talking like mainstream Democrats these days. I even have one cousin from Texas who used to ask me why I would ever vote for Obama, as if it was some way-out thing to do.
But, in 2016 he sent money to and voted for Hillary. He knew what Trump was before it really even hit ME about the full gravity of Trump. He saw Trump as so bad that he never described is vote for Hillary as a vote against Trump. It wasn't a protest thing. He articulated that it was a vote for Hillary. And this is a Texas pro-gun conservative. He wasn't reluctant or embarrassed to talk about Hillary, either. It was somewhat strange, but satisfying.

(2,703 posts)turnout was so low, not so much because of the weather, but because so many voters of that party are disgusted with ALL of their candidates, so they decided to just skip the caucuses. The weather gave them a convenient excuse to stay home.
