"We are looking into how to make sure that those responsible for extremist violence or extreme settler violence in the West Bank are held to account for it," Trudeau told reporters in Waterloo, Ontario.
Trudeau's comments add to signs of the West's growing displeasure with the policies of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Britain, the European Union and more than a dozen partner countries including Australia and Canada have called on Israel to take immediate and concrete steps to tackle settler violence in the West Bank.

(12,981 posts)I heard on NPR yesterday that Israelis are blocking aid from going to Gaza by standing in front of aid trucks and refusing to move. The IDF does nothing to stop them. They are demanding that no aid go to Gaza until all Hamas is destroyed, which mens they are demanding that Israel commit genocide by starvation and illness of all Palestinians. Certainly these groups do not represent all Israelis, but I fear that their MAGA types have taken over the country, just as much of our country in red states has been taken over by irrational MAGAts who also see the law as something to ignore.

(78,366 posts)far as I can recall. Lots of condemnation as they take over and blow up the houses -but they are allowed to stay.
And now these extremists have the excuse of Hamas invasion -and killing-- and they will continue the land grab. And no, they do not represent the majority of the people of Israel, but they prevail.

Settlers terror is not a campaign. It is a daily reality, they say in a post on X.

(6,136 posts)They are guilty of pretty much everything Hamas did on October 7, at least at some point. A criminal court should try them, and, anyone found guilty should be jailed imo.
Also edit: Yes, Hamas should be too, obviously. Not talking about Hamas here.

(8,351 posts)They have been engaged in acts of terrorism against the Palestinians on the West Bank for decades...apparently with tacit approval of the Israeli government, since they are rarely called to task for their violence.

(33,254 posts)Malik Al-Zaban, a resident of the village, said the settlers ransacked a poultry farm he owns, which they destroyed after tearing down greenhouses and smashing equipment. He added that the settlers broke down the doors and windows of several houses.
Settlers also took control of a plot of agricultural land in the mountainous area of the nearby Zabda village, which they are now using for their livestock to graze.
They are also preventing the Palestinian landowners from accessing their properties while under the protection of the Israeli military, Wafa reported.
