Could it, at least, change the symbol from a blue square to a swastika?

(54,776 posts)liberal journalist, most of whom continue to use Twitter even if they have a Bluesky account, and often post more messages on Twitter than on Bluesky so there is no Bluesky version to post?

It's like buying a German made car in 1938. It might be a reliable car, but it's funding gas chambers!
It's like posting on Jeffrey Dahmer's social media app, because you like some of the recipes.
I can't excuse the human remains in his freezer, because there is a good risotto recipe available to "share".

(16,375 posts)Someone I consider an American hero once said; "Some men see things as they are, and say why. I dream of things that never were, and say why not."
I think the very first step to change, is to stop accepting.
It simply doesn't need to be this way.
No one "needs" an Amazon Prime account.
No one "needs" a Facebook account.
No one "needs" a Nazi Social Media site.
We don't need....WE ACCEPT!
Nothing will change as long as we accept it.

I still worked in the state Democratic chairman's office that fall to try to get Hubert Humphrey elected, though I knew some Dems who sat out the election.
Twitter was around a long time (in internet terms) before Musk bought it, and many of us are hoping he'll lose control of it. He is losing a lot of money with it.
He'd be happy if all liberals left it and scattered to smaller platforms and lost most of their online audience. Some have. Most haven't. And I can't like and repost their messages there if I leave Twitter.
If our Democratic lawmakers are short of time, most of them are likely to post on Twitter rather than Bluesky, to reach that larger audience.
And btw, the more liberal lawmakers and journalists stay on Twitter, the more likely it is that if Musk is forced to give that platform up, it will be acquired by a liberal or moderate wanting to restore Twitter to what it used to be, rather than a RWer who'd want to push the platform farther right.

(22,313 posts)I think having a Twitter account does not make one a NAZI. Based on their financial information, I would assume my having one to merely read content is a net cost to them.

(16,375 posts)or better yet. How'd that work out for America?

(16,375 posts)I am suggesting that their ONLY choice should not be a Nazi Social Media site.

(54,776 posts)But I have pointed out, and will continue to point out, that when time is limited for a lawmaker or journalist using social media, they have valid reasons for posting on Twitter rather than another site, and they shouldn't be condemned for doing so.

(39,391 posts)Banning those links entirely would work too.
Elon Musk and all his industries can go to hell.
That would save taxpayers a lot of money too.
