One of the doctors in my office drives a Tesla, and so does his wife. Both of them were targeted by vandals, who drove nails into their tires, leaving them both stranded at their respective workplaces.
This does not hurt Elon Musk, and only hurts innocent people who bought Teslas in good faith before Elon went off the deep end.
Stop hurting innocent people!

(9,271 posts)think just like you and me and were trying to do the right thing. Just leave them alone…
Cybertruck drivers though…Um… they are just dumbasses wanting to get in your face.

(5,399 posts)Biggest problem is drivers of big dark colored Ram trucks with oversized tires and a mindset that it's OK to run red lights and over other cars. Is there some character in those Fast & Furious movie who mows down people with a dark Ram truck? These guys around here are doing some sort of hero-worshiping maniac mimic driving in these parts. And, yes, if there are any bumper stickers on them, it's MAGA crap.

I actually drove my Tesla to protest in front of a Tesla store

(19,722 posts)Cars I'm not sure about. I don't think i could possibly miss a T truck, but the cars aren't nearly as outlandish looking, so one of those wouldn't necessarily catch my eye.
Vandalizing people's vehicles just because you're angry with the guy who owns the company that made them is dead wrong, of course, but I think it says something about just how upset people are. When people get as worked up as they are right now, judgment can go out the window, and bad things can happen.

(32,736 posts)They're about the size of a Toyota Corolla, but a bit more sportier. They're nice looking cars.

(32,736 posts)Now if we had as many cybertrucks as we do pickup trucks, I don't know what I would think!
I've only seen a few cybertrucks, so they're pretty much a novelty.
Polybius
(19,395 posts)They are modified, making them louder and to cause even more pollution. At least the CT doesn't do that.

Though I'm sure someone sells an accessory to do this.

It takes time and effort to write, call or text representatives, to go to a protest, etc. to voice your opinion.

(3,248 posts)invented the probable first bought-it-before-we-understood bumper sticker--in 2021. We bought our first EV in 2014 and a small Tesla seemed like a good idea at the time in 2019. We are too close to retiring to sell it, so although we cannot stand the guy, we still need the car. (The bumpersticker no longer is enough of a statement, it's off.) We are a two EV family--the other is a 2023 Leaf, which I love!

I could call it Stale Automotive Group, or SAG.
There's a business plan...
Now that I'm thinking about it, could you drop a Humvee body on a CyberTruck chasis? It looks like it would fit.

(18,955 posts)Why? Because it creates an effect where people that own these cars won’t ever buy another one. I’m not condoning it. I would never encourage someone to vandalize like that, and I hate that it impacts people who can’t stand Musk, but I suspect it creates a chilling effect for current T owners.

(136 posts)Target the chargers. not the owners or the dealerships.
A key part of the Tesla business model was to build chargers at critical points that would allow their cars to travel coast to coast and what not. If all of the charger spaces in Coralville, Iowa, just happened to be blocked by your rusty old Pinto, it would seriously upset that business model.
Polybius
(19,395 posts)I don't have a home charger. You want to hurt me? Why? I'm a loyal voter.

(45 posts)Every time they drive a Tesla on the road it is a big fat advertisement for Musk. They need to stop. If their feelings get hurt because they are getting the bird flipped at them, I'm willing to live with that.

(11,397 posts)My daughter bought her Tesla over 5 years ago. She didn't even know who Eloon Muck was at the time. It's been a good car probably because Eloon had nothing to do with the actual invention. At the last rally when we were taking our protest signs out of her car another rally goer drove up and parked next to us. She told us she saw the Tesla and thought "ugh" until she saw us taking our signs out. We all chuckled. Sometimes you really can't judge a book by its cover or a driver by her car.

(32,736 posts)I remember the first time I road in one. It was with someone who worked at Planned Parenthood. This was in 2017.
I can't imagine my vehicle being a target.
Just imagine if you bought a house from a builder, then only to find out later, that the builder was a Nazi. And of course, builders build in tracts, so then an entire neighborhood would be known as a "Nazi neighborhood" and everyone in the neighborhood would be called a nazi. Of course, the govt would not bail anyone out. The only recourse is to sell the home and move.
