Senate passes resolution to block Canada tariffs

Four Republican Senators — Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Mitch McConnell — voted with Democrats on Wednesday to undo President Trump’s 25% tariffs on Canadian imports. Senators voted 51-48 just hours after Trump unveiled his 'Liberation Day' reciprocal tariffs

It isn't a question of enforcement. The House will probably not pass this. Bluetus 16 hrs ago #6

Totally agree with you. Unfortunately, like the courts, congress has no one to enforce their purse strings and not enough votes in either house to throw the orange idiot out on his ass.

But - this is the Senate, at least , taking back the power it ceded as part of the continuing resolution.

There will be no vote in the House. And if it somehow passed the House, Trump would veto it.

It is a statement bill, and an important one. Considering that McConnell is no longer officially in leadership and will not be running again, maybe he doesn't have any fucks left to give Trump. We could have used that 5 years ago, but it may still be significant now.

More likely, maybe some took last night as a sign that blindly following Trump over that cliff may not be a good idea.

is the goal. Make every R go on record as having voted in favor of the tariffs. When prices start skyrocketing from massive tariff costs, we will use their votes on this to tie them to it in every congressional district in the country with an R.
