One of my MAGA acquaintances, formerly friend, taking his groceries to his apartment, was whining today.

He spent $125 on what had cost him about $95 just two weeks ago.

"Four bags of groceries cost me $125!" he was raging. And as I looked at him, and was about to open my mouth to say it, he said, "Don't go there!"

I said, quietly, "You voted for him, I didn't."

Watching them slowly figure out that parts for their good old American trucks come from China and Mexico.
And who pays for tariffs. I hope the tariff charges get added to the bill as a line item. Retailers won’t want to just take the heat for the increase when they can’t help it, so my dream could come true.

Bought eighteen eggs from that place last week, as is my custom. Alas, I was in a hurry and didn't follow my usual procedure of actually opening the package and checking them. From past experience, I suspect that the warehouse boyhos there play football with them. The four cackle berries on one end had been crushed, and the contents leaked down to cement several more so firmly in place that the broke when I tried to pry them out.
Less than a dozen eggs for the inflated price of eighteen.
Such a deal.

Had my own version of that convo a couple of months ago. Guy was ranting about how Fauci should be shot. He told me "don't go there".

I told him:

Here's the deal. You brought it up. You need to understand that if you are free to chime in on a given subject, then others are free to give their thoughts on that subject or on your comments. You don't get to speak your piece and then tell someone else to pipe down because you "don't want to hear it". If you're big boy enough to throw your thoughts my way, then you're big boy enough to hear mine right back.

After about the 3rd or 4th variation on the above, it sunk in that he was going to have to 1. STFU or 2. Hear what I had to say in full. or 3. Kick my ass to shut me up.

24. Agreed

You bought 3 empty bags at $30 each?

Or maybe 3 bags of wegu steak weighing 30 pounds each?

What relevance does your bag of groceries have to do with the op's story?

And bty, 3 bags for $87 is almost the same as 4 bags at $125. Just saying.

As far as I'm concerned "You voted for him, I didn't" ought to be chiseled into the tombstones of every single trump voter. They should never ever escape blame or ridicule for the damage they did to this country and its citizens. I have taken grim satisfaction in disassociating myself from those few MAGATs I used to regard as friends or relations.
