Something in today's Washington Post ABC poll that we should all be concerned about:

Overall, who do you trust to do a better job handling the country's main problems - Trump or the Democrats in Congress.

Registered voters:

Trump 40%
Democrats in Congress 32%
Neither 30%
both equally 4%

The Democrats need an economic agenda for improving people's lives along with opposing Trump's overreaches.

This is in a poll where Trump's approval is 42%.

The country is in this mess because too many people are struggling financially.

Yes, Biden did a great job navigating us back from the pandemic, but the fact is that over 50 years there's been an erosion of financial wellbeing for too many people.

The billionaires and upper income people are doing fine. But a lot of folks are left behind. They're facing wage stagnation, skyrocketing housing prices, student loans with predatory interest rates, medical debt, etc. They can't support their families. They feel unhappy and stressed.

The Democratic Party needs to start making radical promises and fighting for ordinary people. The fight needs to be loud and visible.

infrastructure projects, for example. You're more likely to find a Republican who voted against the bill posing in front of it than a Democrat. Sometimes you have to really, really search to learn what Democratic policies are and lots of people are too lazy to do it. They've got cat videos to watch. We need people like AOC and Maxwell Frost to beat them over the head with the good things that come about when Democrats are in office. Everything from Social Security and Medicare to Obamacare, aid for the poor, etc. They have to also let people know what the GOP is taking away: Medicaid, food assistance, student loan forgiveness, heating assistance, Head Start and on and on and on.

Democrats in congress even if they get a slim majority, have very little power to make people lives better. The constitution cripples congress and its inability to function has brought about a do nothing attitude among the populous.

All these career members of Congress make millions while in office, then more after they leave. How do some come in with a negative net worth in some cases and then leave, now worth tens of millions of dollars a decade or two later? I guess they all have really good financial management or get million dollar deals for books no one reads or buys. It’s all a grift at this point.

so many are... it is obvious this was caused by psycho... all of it, starting from his first reign of terror.

I agree something needs to be done. His poll numbers should be minus numbers imo.

7. How could someone say Democrats in Congress are "handling" problems? They are out of power.

The question makes little sense to me. “Who do I trust to handle” is a different question.

Commercials with people who point out how their lives have changed under Trump. Take insulin for example. The dialogue will be something like this"

With the reduction of insulin prices my life was better. I could even follow a dream or attempt to get that job I always wanted. And then came Trump and I'm sliding back into a hole that I don't see how I'm doing to dig out of.

And then the last caption: President Biden, a Democrat, lowered the prices of insulin. Trump removed the protections.
Don't take Democrats for granted.

If it were just who do you trust it would make more sense. As it is who do you trust to do a better job controlling the economy, it is an impossible question as the DEMOCRATS IN CONGRESS CONTOL NEITHER HOUSE. They need help from Republicans to stop even the very worse legislation. To make things worse, a SC enabled Trump is doing things to destroy much of what this country was.

I would answer the Democrats because I think the Republicans actually have goals that take the country in the wrong direction. This i trust powerless Democrats because at least they are trying to stop Trump.

11. Our agenda doesn't matter if "who we are speaks louder" than it does.

(Apologies to Emerson for the subject line.)

Our core economic agenda is good, imo. I think trust is the key word in the above OP. Without trust, no matter what we say, no matter what we plan, we'll get nowhere.

We need to build trust. Discipline ourselves. Be intelligent, mature, and fair. Cred makes clout.

We need to not destroy trust. Be feeling, but don't be emotionally self-indulgent. Be inclusive but on guard concerning the company you keep.

Trust gets us in the door. I think Biden did all the right things with industrial policy and infrastructure. Harris said all the right things during the campaign. It wasn't enough. We need to think hard about what it means to have cred.
