I doubt if Trump even knew the theme of this year's Gala, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style".
This is a man with no style. He wears frumpy blue suits, with ridiculously long red ties.
And his words are worse than his looks.
His presence would cheapen the Met Gala.
Truly a vulgar man.

I didn't realize it was by invitation... mostly attended by rich/celebrity types, actors, artists, musicians and others who show off their outfits... apparently the designers/brands buy tables/tickets, and then invite people... it's not cheap! 😹

It raises funds for the MMA Costume Institute-

they all look so tight in the face, it's like their cheeks are stapled to their ears! I always thought the point to plastic surgery or any kind of "young it up" thing was to make it look natural... at least two of these women look anything but "natural." I may not be much to look at any longer, with wrinkles, saggy skin, and silver hair... but at least it's "natural" (LOL)

An African American focused 'theme'. And that theme raised $31M at a time when an autocratic government is stealing from the arts.

I'd say folks can set aside derision for this at a time when Black Americans - myself included - are feeling EXTREMELY hostile to this racist shit hole country without considering whether or not that sick evil old fuck and his prostitution whore wife were invited.

...but that video is a deepfake

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/anna-wintour-trump-met-gala/

In short, the video that appeared to show Wintour explaining why she banned Trump from the Met Gala is a deepfake — digitally fabricated content created using artificial intelligence to manipulate or entirely generate audio and video that appears to be real. The video combined altered footage from an authentic Vogue interview with what appeared to be an AI-generated voice. There was also no evidence that Wintour ever made the statements attributed to her in the clip. Additionally, a Vogue spokesperson confirmed via email that the video was "definitely fake."

Therefore, we have rated this claim as fake...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/style/2025/05/05/met-gala-2025-watch-channel-theme-atendees/

I couldn't find a way to gift the article, but some relevant info from it:

"Can you get a ticket?

Unless you’re a celebrity — no. It’s an invite-only thing. Fashion brands and wealthy people buy all the tables and tickets and then shell out invites to celebrities of their choosing. Wintour will also “match” celebrities to brands."

In her book "Melania and Me" Stephanie Winston Wolkoff implies that Melania Trump started getting friendly with her when she found out the Wolkoff - who worked for Anna Wintour - was largely in charge of the Met Gala and thus could advance Ms Trump's status in New York society. The Trumps, though, were seen as cheapskates who wouldn't contribute more than the minimum amount, and didn't bring much in the way of celebrity, flair, or glamor to the event.
