I see his point, but it's really a matter of money. Farm laborers never get paid enough to make a living by US standards. That's why so many undocumented immigrants do that work. They're willing to be the underpaid, low end workers because it's still better than where they came from.
There isn't a substitute for them in the American workforce. Throwing them out is foolish, stupid, and a tragedy for the American Farmers. One that we, the consumers, will pay for in the way of higher food prices and food scarcity.
Besides, the unemployment rate is only about 4.2%. There aren't enough unemployed workers to fill those jobs anyhow.
Maybe that's why the Republicans want to force people on Medicaid to work, and why many Republican states are lowering the minimum age for kids to do work. It almost seems that this is all part of a plan to compensate for the loss of millions of undocumented workers. I don't see that as a viable solution.
At some point they'll probably start letting some of the people they kicked out come back under special work visas that allow them to stay if they have a job, and only as long as they have that job.

...and the Republicans voted it down.

About the only good thing to come out of the now-adjourned Texas lege session was Gov. Abbott vetoing the THC ban pushed by the fascist Lt. Governor Dan Patrick.

Now we can learn to live without the food that is slowly debilitating us or killing us.

The white owning class is Lazy As Fuck, he's bullseye on that. Which is why they won't pick their own crops, ever, and they'll pay good money for politicians who can ensure they won't ever need to do so. There will be new prisons, bigly beautiful prisons in swamps with alligator moats, and they'll have that cute little sign on the front

except it won't be in German this time.

We'll all be picking for the white farmers by year 3 of this "project". They just have to be patient now and wait for their regional prison labor pipelines to fill sufficiently.

There are maga Pubs that want nothing less than a return to the subjugation of Black Americans.
