(4,815 posts)but there is nearly zero cell phone coverage in the Hill Country outside the cities and towns. While the camps might not have had NOAA weather radios I doubt seriously people were just playing with toys.
The blame lies somewhat in the lack of preparedness at the camps themselves but largely with that fucking TX government.

Just pure stubbornness. And a lack of foresight. What they can't imagine, they don''t plan for.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.
* WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following
counties, Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Concho, Crockett,
Fisher, Haskell, Irion, Jones, McCulloch, Menard, Nolan, Runnels,
San Saba, Schleicher, Shackelford, Sterling, Taylor, Throckmorton
and Tom Green.
* WHEN...From 1 PM CDT this afternoon through Sunday afternoon.
* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall will develop
across much of West Central Texas today but become more
numerous tonight and into Sunday morning. Some of these
storms will produce 2 to 5 inches of rain in a short amount
of time, with a few isolated locations exceeding 8 inches.
This will quickly run off and produce a rapid start to flash
flooding.
