Trump Kept Gold Club World Cup Trophy for Himself So FIFA Had to Give the Winners a Replica

Trump took every opportunity to make the new, expanded soccer tournament all about himself.

President Trump has revealed that the champions of the Club World Cup won’t be getting the original trophy, because he’s keeping it.

English club Chelsea easily dispatched France’s Paris Saint-Germain in the final of the tournament in New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium on Sunday, with Trump joining the players for the trophy lift—much to their confusion.

It has since been revealed that the gong hoisted aloft by the London club’s captain, Reece James, was a replica, because the president of football’s governing body, FIFA, has let Trump use the original as an ornament in the Oval Office.

“They [FIFA] said: ‘Could you hold this trophy for a little while?’ We put it in the Oval Office and then I said: ‘When are you going to pick up the trophy’, and [FIFA President Gianni Infantino] said: ‘We’re never going to pick it up, you can have it forever in the Oval Office,’” Trump explained in a mid-game chat with the broadcaster, DAZN.

He then revealed to reporter Emily Austin that the victor, Chelsea, actually received a replica of the original for winning the tournament.

I'm a Bills fan so a natural enemy of Tom Brady's Patriots, but I thought that deflated football stuff was nonsense. The football in play is in the refs' hands after every play, I would think they would know whether or not the balls were deflated.

Brady got suspended for a few games and the Patriots were fined a million dollars, but it seemed bogus to me.

Instead, I laugh my ass off at him and his utter hollow existence...to be so damaged and broken and in need of CONSTANTLY being told (real or imagined) that you are important is pathetic on a cellular level.

Congrats Fred Trump - you drove one son to an early alcohol-influenced death and another into a hellish existence where he KNOWS that he is a worthless piece of shit with no intrinsic value. Fred Trump ladies and gentlemen - fathe of the millenium in the 2nd AND 3rd mellenia of the common era! That is some world class fuck-upery there.

As for Donnie Two Scoops, fuck him I laugh at his increasingly desperate grasps for affection and affirmation. He lies about it constantly, which is clearly indicative of a diseased mind and lack of soul. Donald Trump is NEVER happy and the fact that he lies about his life and accomplishments, failed at multiple marriages, and CHEATS AT GOLF (where you play on your honor as the arbiter of the rules) makes it very clear - that is a man desperately ashamed of his life and too cowardly to end it.

Suffer 2-scoops, suffer. Know this - WE HATE YOU. It's not that anyone hates America, they ALL HATE YOU! Have another tormented day you sack of shit.

He wanted to keep the trophy - another nice big gold tchotchke for his collection - and they gave it to him because Infantino is his new BFF. From the linked article:

FIFA boss Gianni Infantino has been in Washington, D.C., 10 times since Donald Trump returned to office in January. He has previously argued that proximity to the president is “absolutely crucial” to the success of the 2026 World Cup, which will be partly hosted in the U.S.

It comes as FIFA last week inadvertently confirmed the cosy Infantino-Trump relationship by moving its New York employees to a new office in Trump Tower, Manhattan.

47. The Club World Cup tournament is not a big deal
Mon Jul 14, 2025, 01:22 PM
Monday

It's only been held since 2000.

Unlike the World Cup, which is held every 4 years, which is the most widely viewed and followed sporting event in the world. The viewership of the 2018 World Cup was estimated to be 3.57 billion, close to half of the global population, while the engagement with the 2022 World Cup was estimated to be 5 billion, with about 1.5 billion people watching the final match.

All of this is to say, practically nobody cares about the Club World Cup outside of the 32 clubs competing and their fans. It's nowhere near as popular as the UEFA Champions League in Europe, even among American audiences. Attendance at the tournament averaged just 34,759 out of a capacity of 61,352. Only 3,412 fans turned out to watch Ulsan Hyundai and Mamelodi Sundowns. US TV audiences averaged just 400,000, a 0.17% rating.

I'm sure Trump thinks this is the greatest most prestigious trophy in the world. In reality, he just likes it because it's gold and gaudy.

When Robert Kraft showed Putin one of his Super Bowl rings, Putin simply took it. I can't remember exactly, but I believe he looked at it briefly and then shoved it his pocket, or else had handed it to an assistant to remove it for safekeeping. Later he thanked Kraft. Kraft was too embarrassed to say anything and let him keep it. Masha Gessen worked this story into her theory that Putin thinks everything "belongs" to him and has this kleptomaniac aspect of his personality.
