2. No Cancer Care, No Dialysis, No Power: Gaza's Health System Is on the Brink of Collapse
Tue Jul 15, 2025, 08:40 AM
Jul 15

This marks yet another stage in the dramatic contraction of Gaza's healthcare system. Of the 36 hospitals that were functioning before the war, 22 have been rendered inoperable and abandoned – either due to bombings or orders from the IDF.

Cancer patients have also been heavily impacted. After the Turkish Hospital – which specialized in oncology – was destroyed, the European Hospital became the near-exclusive provider of cancer care. Its shutdown has left thousands of patients without access to treatment. So far, 338 cancer patients have died while waiting for care.

I hope you receive excellent medical care and good news very soon. I wish the same for those in Gaza.

4. As you can see already in this thread....

Some people choose to absorb propaganda and bad news about One Very Specific issue.

I imagine that this might help people stay calm in the midst of all this chaos. Our personal challenges, including aging, climate change, everything TrumpCo is doing, wars and horrors... it's too much for some people to look at all at once. I think they feel better if they can focus on one thing. Why they choose a thing they can't do anything about, I don't know. Maybe that's where the propaganda comes in. There's a very well-funded online community of People who are Very Upset about Gaza and I think they feel special because the rest of us Just Don't Get It. History will judge us, ya know?

I hope your further tests come back negative.

I hope the OP gets good news about their health. That hope shouldn't be incompatible with also hoping for the civilians in Gaza who have no access to similar medical care. Both things can matter at once.

12. The kids in Gaza are always on my mind
Tue Jul 15, 2025, 02:37 PM
Jul 15

My gum was infected and I think - at least I have my arms and legs. When I was younger, I worked in a kids ortho hospital with kids with paralyzed bodies and no limbs. Some of those kids were there for months so I grew attached to them almost like a mama substitute if parents weren’t around.

Now we have over six thousand children in Gaza with no limbs. These kids need physical therapy and prosthetics. Our country should be compassionate

I think we can worry about our health and the health and wellbeing of others at the same time.

Hope your texts are negative.

13. The tens of millions of children dying in Africa are on my mind, too
Tue Jul 15, 2025, 03:21 PM
Jul 15

Millions are dying because of what Trump has done, beginning with defunding USAID. I know people who were abandoned with no money, left to get their children and themselves home on their own, leaving behind the health programs they'd been running. Pregnant women, people with HIV, sickle cell, TB, malaria, and many other diseases abandoned, their health clinics closed. No drinking water. No food.

Untold millions of children are dying of starvation because of what Trump has done.

The situation in Gaza is far worse since Trump took office.

There is horrific pain and suffering all over the world because of what Trump has done.

since he didn't know about the cancer, but it's not acceptable that after you cleared that up, all you got was crickets.
I wish you good results on your tests and strength.

Many people I know have Gaza on their minds and heart constantly and can't accept that too many people are ignoring it.
I hope you hear from him soon with an apology and good wishes.

The problem is that there is nothing anybody can do since Trump took office.

If there was something we could do, don't you think we would?

that ass holes come in different shapes, sizes. And ideologies. Maybe this person isn’t an ass Hope, but they sure are acting that way.

And it was obvious your crack about office snacks was a joke.

What’s happening in Gaza is horrific, but this person has obviously lost all perspective of managing family relationships. If his or her reaction to everything is to compare it to what’s happening in a war torn part of the world, or where ethnic strife is occurring, they aren’t going to function all that well.

A lot of people are on edge, especially those of us profiled by jackboot thugs that are kidnapping people at behest of our government, but we still have our daily responsibilities and relationships to maintain.

Good luck with your health. That should be your first priority.

I recently got a positive result on a Cologuard test that tests for both blood and cancer markers in a stool. I spent a month worried about colon cancer but in the end it was just a small polyp that was detected on the Cologuard test and later removed during a colonoscopy. Hope everything works out for you. The worrying is not fun.

I realize that what people are going through in Gaza is so much worse I realize how lucky I am. I wouldn't wish those conditions for my worst enemy and Palestinians are not my worst enemy.
