Well, with all the divisiveness, economic uncertainty, air travel woes, and just woes in general....

my husband's family decided it was time for a family reunion in Chicago!

(To be fair, one of the reasons is to inter the ashes of the matriarch of the family, who died during COVID restrictions).

Chicago means we have to fly in from AZ, and stay in a hotel for about a week, and rent a car for the trip out to the cemetery.

We were told by my sister in law that we were staying in "the Loop" at a $400 per night hotel.
Um, no.

She and her husband can afford it because her husband is going to "work" during the trip so the company will pay for it.

Sorry, but we don't have that luxury.

There was complaining and muttering and exhausted sighs, but we finally won that particular battle.

Ah the joys of family!

Anyone else dealt with this before?

Not the arguing over where to stay and at what cost, did have to go to Chicagoland for a burial a few years ago, fortunately we were in the "'burbs" so it wasn't too much of a hassle. I don't envy you in having to go there, especially in the loop, ugh!

Good luck in your tussles.
