The Epstein story is not going away.
It will still be around when the mid-terms arrive. They need to be patient and let it simmer, in my opinion. All the MAGA voters have not bought into what the White House and the Republicans in Congress have bought into. There are many that are still skeptical and want to know what is in those files?
This is a cover-up. And the voters will see it as a cover-up when the next election comes around. The Democrats just need to play their cards right, in my opinion.

3 Rebranding of the party in a way that people will be drawn to policies that they can relate to as well as. benefit from. At one point we had a government that tried to help the electorate, not screw the electorate - and that fact in itself could be a major campaign feature.
I have doubts that there is enough time between now and the mid-terms to accomplish a major rebranding of the party unless by some miracle we come up with a super candidate, someone with the charisma to pull people to the polls. We need another JFK. We need strong, decisive leadership that offers value to its base. I try to be optimistic, but the daily grind of nauseating headlines from Republicans makes it tough.
Theres a lot of hard work and brainstorming to be done in a short amount of time, which if not successful will more than likely mean it was our last free election.

(114,446 posts)Democrats are not at their most popular at this moment in history. Therefore, if they can create a negative impression of their opponents, it strengthens their hand.
It would bode well for the Democrats if they could find a strong leader for the Party. However, unlike Republicans, Democrats are more of a "People" Party.

(31,094 posts)I still retain some of my old Democratic notions of crediting people with decent instincts and humane outlooks. But I'm doing my best to shove such quaint feelings to the side---we're entering a life-or-death national battle where such comforting feelings are a hindrance rather than a help. I suggest that others do likewise---we can reclaim our best motivations after the battle is won. No sense in handing trump's hordes with an easy victory.

(5,397 posts)it seems the lemmings will do as told and forget whatever they've heard. This is an authoritarian administration with the power of the veto (in case Dems get back in power next election). Not only that, but lawsuits may be futile as the Supremes are also in his pocket.
We need a strategy. Not reprimands by Obama or other successful Dems. We need a central planning forum to come up with a way to win the midterms. From now until then, the Repukes will be focused on "picking off" the strongest Dems who are currently in office and up for re-election. Meanwhile we're dealing with the incredibly boosted ICE budget and watching potential Democrat voters -- legal residents -- be deported.
This is serious.
Make them play defense every day.

(12,208 posts)The sit back and "let them destroy themselves" tactic hasn't worked.
We've become accustomed to being on defense. Now is the time to go out and prove once and for all which party actually cares about the safety and wellbeing of children. Which party gives a damn about truth and justice.
The cult came to wholeheartedly believe the lie that Democrats are evil monsters that prey on kids.
Force it all to come out.
