DV is taken seriously even for citizens. I would imagine having overstayed plus the domestic violence charge will likely lock him out of a visa for 10 years.

Plus you don’t get one charge and arrested.

It’s probably multiple DV charges, false imprisonment, disturbing the peace, etc. you never know in a mental health fit how far it went.
