What that incompetence might be is never made clear. Apparently, she shouldn't have said "it's on my desk right now" and that seems to be about it. But it's all a ruse, since Bondi can't "release" "the files," whatever that means. Whether it's because "the files" implicate Trump (as many of you believe) or because the whole thing has always been a massive McGuffin and there are no files to speak of (as I believe) is really of little interest. The fact that they cannot be released is not due to Bondi's incompetence either way, nor will shitcanning Bondi solve the problem. Regardless of the details and content of the matter, what's happening here is a lie hitting a wall, a con reaching its internal limit. There's really no solution for that.

All cons have internal limits - the place where their untruths meet the truths of the world. They inevitably have an internal limit by virtue of being untrue.

Which is, WHY is Epstein a story now.

It is absolutely not because the MAGA people care about raping young girls.

It can't be because MAGA people think this is a Dem crime -- I don't think a single Dem has ever opposed a full disclosure of all teh Epstein evidence.

It is a story now because some very powerful people see no good in keeping Trump around, now that they got the Big Billionaire Bill passed. And these people are agitating inside MAGA world.

The media should be laser focused on who is doing the agitating. To their credit, there has been some reporting:

* Questioning Epstein's death
* Repeating Musk's demands for release
* Trump's birthday letter to Epstein
* Vance's secret talks with the Murdochs
* Trump's supposed unhappiness/friction with Putin

Those are dots. The media needs to connect the dots. It is actually pretty damned obvious, but the evidence is still being buried.
