Amazon to acquire AI device startup that listens to your conversations

Amazon is acquiring Bee, a wearable listening device that uses artificial intelligence to collect, process and sort data in its users' lives.

Bee CEO Maria de Lourdes Zollo, who announced the deal on LinkedIn, said the Seattle tech giant will help bring its “truly personal, agentic AI to even more customers.”

“What began as a dream with an incredible team and community now finds a new home at Amazon,” she wrote.

The financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed. An Amazon spokesperson said the deal is signed but not yet closed, adding that it was too early to talk about plans for the San Francisco-based startup.

I'm some kind of Luddite. I reject and resists most of these revolutionizations of modern life.

All these so-called innovations, so shiny and bright on the surface, are cheap plastic and dull grey metal beneath the surface.

And none of it seems to make people any brighter.

...but the scary part is that this AI software will probably find it's way onto a lot of other devices besides the wearable one, like the Alexa in your home, or even cell phones, possibly our laptop operating systems too.

Basically, rather than just collecting this data and have to analyze it later, they've written software to analyze it all in real time as it's recorded, then store the data and the analysis so they can use it as they wish, whenever they wish.

Instead of just selling our raw data to advertisers, product retailers, airlines, etc, which the buyer then has to analyze (see link below), they can now sell the complete package for a higher premium.
