One of the base ways they painted themselves as good and democrats as evil is by claiming that we're somehow all pedophiles while they are moral, upright, law and order protectors of children.

It ties in the anti-abortion movement (protecting "children" ) with the anti-lgbtq, anti-sex eduction, anti-women movements, as they claim all of that is "grooming" and so on.

So hatred of pedophilia is one of the very few things that's more fundamental to them than partisan hatred because partisan hatred is built on top of that (well, lies about that, but that's besides that point).
