Killing millions of us, and there’s no question that the mag, Nazis will announce that all Social Security and Medicare money is gone because of something Biden did, a lie of course, it’s all coming.

Brace yourself, maybe if we respond accordingly as in a very? very assertive wink wink nod nod response then maybe we survive just maybe.

I am emotionally exhausted and have little energy or optimism left. I feel terrible for my children and grandchildren though. I really thought we would have evolved to be more civilized by now.

I don't have the strength to witness a fascist takeover of our country.

If I only had my wife and myself to worry about, that would be one thing. But to think that my kids and grandkids may well be cheated out of their futures, as a small group of ruthless robber-barons gain ever-tightening control over every facet of society.

Talked him into going to the last protest with us. Promised he would meet really GOOD people and have some of his faith in humanity and our future restored a bit. Told him things wouldn't look quite so bleak if he gets out and mixes with people who, like him, read real news, care deeply about the nation and ALL people, get up and make their voices heard.

It did him a world of good. He is excited about the next protest and might even come to our next DEM club meeting where we have great guest speakers, lots of important activist news/opportunities, and good information about our state legislature, government, groups working to make meaningful changes in how AZ is governed.

there are a number of online protests. I always feel much more upbeat after attending them. Even the Progressive Democrats of America calls which they have several times a week are very upbeat and make me feel more hopeful.

I have mobility issues. Bought myself one of those rollinator that makes walking more secure and has a seat so I can get off my feet. I have protest pals who are not spring chickens. We take turns using the seat. It works out for some of us. And I am seeing more people showing up with those rolling walkers. Really makes it safer to get out.

think -- and conclude -- that this won't end well. I don't see a peaceful resolution to our current situation here in the US. I am convinced that we have seen the last of free and fair elections at least for the next four years, and if we lose again -- whether fair or foul in 2028 -- well beyond that. That makes me angry. I'm sure there are tens of thousands of others who are angry like me. Something is going to break. What scares me is the growing police state ... and the radical right-wing militia types who will support them. They will push good people into doing bad things -- and then watch out. ... In the end, the good will prevail, but not without a lot of pain and misery. That's what both scares and angers me.

Got everything dialed in to be able to retire pretty comfortably early next year, but I'm feeling that Rs, if they hold on to power, will at best intentionally fail to shore up Social Security and endeavor to allow benefit reductions to kick in. At worst they'll actively destroy it entirely in some warped attempt to "privatize" it.

Because of this, I'll keep working through the 2026 elections at minimum. I'm sure the current administration will keep attempting *all* the things that Project 2025 proposes even if Ds win big in 2026, because it's apparent that they're "on a mission from god" and don't give a fuck about public opinion. I truly think they have a mindset of "We'll be LEGENDS when everybody sees how great we've made America - they just don't understand it now" and so will plow ahead full speed, damn the torpedoes. So I want to see if voters soundly reject the current path we're headed down before I transition to a more or less fixed income.

Then again, I'm so disillusioned with a significant percentage of my fellow Americans that I'm about ready to say "fuck this place", take the earliest retirement date, and move to a country with a comparable or lower cost of living. Every day I feel more and more repulsed with the idea of remaining anywhere in the general proximity of these brain-diseased people who actually want all this shit. Between my pension and SS I'll have enough passive income to qualify for a long term visa nearly anywhere. Destinations in Europe, Central/South America, and Southeast Asia are all possibilities.

Old and retired and scared. Very Scared - I fear the disaster we are leaving to the next generation.

But we have freedom of action that many don't.
Because we're retired, we have some financial security and 40 hours a week to spend on activism.

If you can - get out and protest, volunteer, write letters, make phone calls. Whatever your circumstances permit.(Encourage others here on DU)
You can find energy and like-minded friends to chase away the feelings of despair. Don't give into paralysis.

a time in which Trump and his republican enablers would not be in office. I never thought my fellow Americans were as ignorant as they are.

Greed and depravity has won. It's surreal.

100% of my medical care and a third of my income comes from the federal government. The other two-thirds comes from the state of Texas. So I'm nervous about all of that, in addition to being nervous for the whole country.
