or is it possible that Trump is deliberately trying to shed the furthest fringe of his supporters? That would explain his remarks on the Epstein situation. He knows that the far right radical fringe is never going to vote for a Democrat, and he thinks that by alienating that whacko wing of his party, that those in the middle who voted for him this last time will stay onboard if he loses the worst of the losers, or at least can be seen trying to do this.
