Virginia Guiffre was a 16-year-old towel girl working in the "spa" at Mar-A-Lago. Jeffrey Epstein was a billionaire Invester, as far as Trump was concerned.
Why would Trump be so upset that a teen aged girl employee went to work for him, unless he knew what Epstein was. Virginia was 16 at the time. Why would Trump be so attached to this employee, unless she worked there for a few years, making her very, very young at hiring.
Trump knew what was going on. They both were cads.

There is no evidence that he had the desire or capacity to be a good father. His daughter was an easy target for Maxwell.

(6,280 posts)Spa attendants typically greet clients, answer questions and perform administrative tasks, such as taking phone calls, managing communications and booking appointments for prospective clients. They also ensure the spa is clean and well-organized by preparing spa rooms and tidying them after a session. Additionally, they may assist therapists with their treatments and help clients with their requirements.

(55,446 posts)The previously widely published story about them falling out when they competed over a mansion auction is vastly more plausible.
Making Donnie pay millions more for something very understandably would put you on his enemies list.
A 16-year old girl is a throwaway to him. He could surely find a replacement to abuse easily enough.

(1,305 posts)on "moving the swimming pool." Trump decided to undercut Epstein's attempt to acquire the mansion by outbidding him. This pissed off Epstein because he wanted the mansion and Epstein figured Trump didn't have the $40 million needed to buy it.
When Trump ultimately outbid Epstein he never lived in it nor had any intention of doing so. Trump sold the mansion for $95 million in one year.

(6,779 posts)*Probably not all that uncommon with all too many US employers.
Workers have agency; they are not owned by employers. The attitude that people can be owned by others is at the root of much abuse, exploitation, and general social ills. It allows the richest, most entitled, to think of workers as things rather than human beings. It is the mindset that allows all manner of horrors.

(36,978 posts)I guess yours are, but I run across several hundred kneejerk reactions every day on this site.
None of which are read by "Independents", so I have little worry I'm alienating them from the Democratic Party further. If I ever meet an "Independent" in real life, I'll be sure to engage them in a strategic, persuasive manner.

(6,280 posts)There is no evidence she ever had any contact with Trump at Mar-a-Lago. In fact there is no evidence Trump ever even knew who she was.
hamsterjill
(16,153 posts)If Trump knew she was "recruited away", then he obviously knew who she was. What am I missing with your post?
Wiz Imp
(6,280 posts)Because a reporter asked a question and specifically mentioned her name he responded thusly:
His immediate response was "Uh, I don't know"? That does not sound like he knew who she was to me. The last sentence is the "tell". "She had no complaints abut us" - she has been mentioned all over the media lately as a spa attendant at Mar-a-Lago who Epstein hired away, and in her public statements about Epstein and others, she has said she observed no wrongdoing from Trump. Trump clearly read that and realized he could use it to deflect accusations against him. She obviously had one complaint or "issue" with Mar-a-Lago - they weren't paying here nearly as much as Maxwell offered to work for Epstein.
hamsterjill
(16,153 posts)That part does it for me.
Sorry, but if you're here to defend Trump in any way, shape, form or fashion, you've picked the wrong poster. I think he is guilty as sin. He says these things almost as a dare for someone to pin him on it. That's his MO. He's done it countless times.
Have a great afternoon.

(6,280 posts)And he can't name an employee that was "stolen" and answers "I don't know" even when a reporter gives him a name, and that somehow means Trump knew.....something? I have no idea how my pointing out that Trump is lying his ass off can be construed as defending Trump in any way.

(6,280 posts)He probably had and still has no idea who Virginia Giuffre was. He only recognizes her name because she has been mentioned in the media recently and was reported as never having accused Trump of any wrongdoing. He never mentioned anything about this before yesterday. If he cared anything about it, he wouldn't have waited 25 years to mention it.

(4,701 posts)But the trouble for Trump is, every time he opens his mouth to try to quell the relentless Epstein questions, he implicates himself deeper and deeper!
For instance, if Trump KNEW that Epstein was stealing employees from Mar-a-lago (underage female employees), what did Trump think Epstein wanted them for?
His explanations only generate more questions, and the questions only get more and more dangerous for him.
