Why hasn't a terrorism charge been filed against Boelter?

A federal complaint filed on Monday against Boelter charged him with stalking and murdering Rep. Hortman and her husband and stalking and shooting Sen. Hoffman and his wife. A state complaint filed against Boelter charged him with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder.

But prosecutors have not charged Boelter with terrorism, which is defined under federal law as an offense "that is calculated to influence or affect the conduct of government by intimidation or coercion, or to retaliate against government conduct."

"We brought the charges that we think are appropriate right now," Thompson said.

Thompson added that terrorism charges against Boelter have not been ruled out.

"I can't comment as to what other charges may or may not be brought," Thompson said

someone guilty of several murders and intent to commit more. Half the country would have to go into hiding. I'm not saying that can't happen, but not this way, this fast.

Federal charges

If found guilty in federal court, Mangione could face the death penalty.

The federal charges against him include: one count of using a firearm to commit murder, which carries a maximum sentence of death or life in prison; one count of interstate stalking resulting in death; and one count of stalking through use of interstate facilities resulting in death (each carrying a maximum sentence of life in prison); and one count of discharging a firearm equipped with a silencer to commit a violent crime (which carries a sentence of 30 years to life in prison.)

State charges

Mangione also faces 11 counts in state court in New York. On Tuesday, a Manhattan grand jury indicted Mangione for murder as an act of terrorism, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a forged instrument. He also faces charges in Pennsylvania, where he had been arrested inside a McDonald's in Altoona, Pa., five days after the shooting.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg described Thompson's death as "a frightening, well-planned, targeted murder that was intended to cause shock and attention and intimidation."

when it is part of their agenda to get liberals more and more scared of Trump's words. If the odd MAGA degenerate kills some liberal people because of Trump's words, or tries to shoot up the CDC, and are not charged with terrorism, that encourages others to do the same terrorism. More fear in people. More fear in speaking out against Trump. More fear in liberal politicians. Just like school shootings the right will do the bare minimum to deter such violence as it leaves people quaking in their boots and thus easier to manipulate by the right wing. IMHO Terrorism implies you are at odds with those in power. They don't want to slight any MAGA with violent fantasies. And a lot of them have violent fantacies. Why the guns because it is all play until it's not. They might turn their fantasies against Trump as the guy who shot Trump in the ear did.

refuse to label the 2015 racially motivated Mother Emanuel Church shooting an act of terrorism. It's only an act of terror when it's a threat to the predominant white establishment as identified by today's republicans. Those in the current Democratic Party fold don't count.

I agree. The guy is a terrorist, but the actions in Minnesota mean that, when charged, he cannot be pardoned !!!

Because they know they can always leave and settle somewhere else. They don't care if their 'war' destroys everything in the country. They don't care if they lose their slave labor and proffered position here, they will just go to another place and do it all over again there. It seems the only universal on this planet is the desire for riches. And, they know that this will always get them preferred treatment because they have riches.

Remove the riches, and you remove both their ability to be a threat, and to leave.
