Alex Wagoner just made a funny and insightful point on Nicole Wallace's show. The Newsom posts are working. Trump has already stopped posting in all caps because of the ridicule.
The parodies are leaving a mark and letting trump know that people are laughing at him. And you know how he hates that.

(23,417 posts)what Newsom is doing fits Newsom's style, but I don't think Schumer should try it. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think if he just worked on simplifying his language and not painstakingly reading everything from notes while peering over his glasses I'd be satisfied. Jeffries? Maybe.

(56,831 posts)EVERYONE can ridicule him. Yes, this style won't work for everyone, but I bet Newsom's genius of a press manager can come up with a hundred more ways for a hundred more people to ridicule him.
The maga base sees him as a superman. When they see him being ridiculed, they will all run away in a heartbeat.

(56,831 posts)around the psychological bend pretty easily. I can't figure out why we don't.
And it's all stuff that can easily be done by an out of power party. Relentless ridicule. Relentless pounding on the Epstein issue. Relentlessly behaving like his father, i.e. belittling him and pointing out his failures, calling him a loser
I am serious when I say we need to get a hundred more ideas from Newsom's press manager. Or hire someone equally talented to coordinate a campaign of ridicule from the DNC.

Politics is a rough game. Always has been. Unfortunately, many Dems seem to conflate politics with governing. They're not the same. But they are connected. If you don't do politics well, dirty as it may be, you don't get to govern. Newsom understands that age old formula and the gloves have finally come off.

(78 posts)Marie Antoinette was widely mocked in pre-Revolutionary France, for her gambling, lavish spending that emptied the royal coffer, and supposed sexual impropriety. Her elaborate hairstyles and fashion choices were often mocked, contributing to the perception of her as out of touch with the realities of the French people. The mockery fueled public resentment in the period leading up to the French Revolution.

If you don't think we've pulled some stunts back in the day, check out JFK's operatives secretly turning up the temperature in the TV studio during the now infamous televised debate with Dick Nixon. Seems they knew Tricky Dick was prone to sweating. The rest took care of itself.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) is having a moment as his mockery of President Donald Trump's social media posts has sent Republicans flying into a rage.
— Raw Story (@rawstory.com) 2025-08-20T22:01:04Z
https://www.rawstory.com/gavin-newsom-maga/
MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace showcased some of Newsom's social media posts that adopt the style of Trump's all-caps rants, calling his foes "not hot" and needling Trump supporters. Meanwhile, scores of Newsom allies have started making AI photos of the governor similar to the Trump Trading Cards, showcasing the president as a superhero, war hero, and being touched by the hands of Jesus Christ.
She played clips of Fox News hosts who called it unprofessional and attention-seeking, completely missing that they're the ones who are being ridiculed......
Wagner and Wallace noted that humor "is Trump's kryptonite."
One question Wallace asked, however, is how it took nine years to realize that mocking Trump is a tactic.....
Dowd, a former strategist for George W. Bush's campaign, brought up how confused Fox News hosts are.
"That's my favorite part of the story!" she laughed hysterically.

.do not want to fight back, fire with fire. Theyre worried about rules, norms, decorum, and laws. Maybe they just dont want to look undignified afraid to get town in the dirt and fight. When your opponent is someone who doesnt give a rats ass about any of that and who tossed it all out years ago, such timidity will NOT work. AT. ALL.
Worse, we have NO MORE TIME to wait for democrats to grok a clue and start waterboarding MAGAts with their own medicine.
Our party was not prepared for this even though weve been moving in this direction for decades. They still refused to suspend the filibuster or do anything else remotely beyond the norm. That timidity has hurt us and this country badly.
And they still have not responded (save a few of them) with nearly the fight required to defeat it.
