CA-GOV: Porter leads crowded California governor race by 7 points; most voters undecided: Survey

Democratic former Rep. Katie Porter (Calif.) is leading the crowded California governor’s race, new polling shows, though most voters are undecided about who should succeed term-limited Gov. Gavin Newsom (D).

A new survey from the Institute of Governmental Studies (IGS) at the University of California, Berkeley, found Porter was the first choice for 17 percent of California voters, ahead of Republican Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco’s 10 percent and Democratic former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra’s 9 percent.

Each of nine other candidates on both sides of the aisle earned 6 percent or less. In California’s nonpartisan system, the top two candidates move on from the primary to the general election, regardless of party affiliation.

But 38 percent of voters remain undecided in the race, more than twice the share that picked Porter.

I rather like her and wish her well. I'm a former, not a current, Californian, so I have no bearing on the case. NNadir Aug 27 #4

They’re trying to recruit Senator Padilla to run against her.

on MSNBC and CNN as a Dem candidate for Governor. Apparently, he's some kind of billionaire. In his ads, he only talks about trump. One ad is all about trump and epstein, and another is about how trump cheats at golf and is a terrible businessman. He goads trump with statements like I'm the businessman you'll never be!

17% Porter

She obviously has the most name recognition for now. Let’s hope she doesn’t run on proven losing messaging. But she doesn’t seem to have the best political intuition so far. I used to be so impressed with her.

...I think she has it in the bag. She was over extending herself when running against Schiff for Senator. But probably had her sights on the Govenor's Mansion if it didn't work out.
