Why do we have to be so mean?

Members of a Catholic parish in Evanston, Ill., home of Northwestern University, are alarmed over the Trump immigration goon squad's plans to deport their two priests.

They're just two of dozens of priests who have been brought to the U.S. to fill vacancies caused by a shortage of priests in many dioceses around the country, including the Madison Diocese.

Parishioners at St. John XXIII in Evanston say the two men have devoted their lives to serving others and have done tremendous good for the people in their parish. One hails from the west African nation of Togo, the other from Mexico.

Both are here on R1 religious worker visas that permit them to serve in the United States. But the Trump's deportation frenzy has the federal government so backed up in processing paperwork that they may have to leave this fall.

Their plight is just a small example of how Donald Trump's Make America Great Again agenda is turning this country into one of the world's cruelest. Under the pretense of ridding the country of rapists, murderers, perverts and assorted scum who are living illegally in the U.S., masked strongmen are snatching innocents like those priests, longtime farm workers, hotel housekeepers and packing house laborers and sending them to uncertain fates. Their anguished families are left to suffer.

yeah, these guys are really "criminals". They are here LEGALLY on LEGAL visas which they have not overstayed. And your silly-assed problem with that is....?

'We' aren't the mean ones. 'They' are the mean ones. The MAGAts are the mean ones.
That's like saying CONGRESS failed to pass a law, when it was GOP obstruction that blocked it.

The church itself is called St. Nicholas. Judging by their website, the priests that the government wants to deport are the two associate pastors. That leaves a pastor emeritus, and several deacons.

Evanston is liberal and has a sizable activist population. Hopefully, they'll organize to protest this stupidity.

Odd that the article is from a Madison, WI, publication.

and the ties to the area are fairly close. Kids from Madison attend Northwestern, which is located in Evanston, and vice versa. You apparently aren't familiar with the area. I grew up there, so I am.

I was born in Evanston, and went to Northwestern. Plus, I have many friends in Evanston. I guess it's good that they're covering it in Madison, but I'm curious as to what the Archdiocese of Chicago is doing about it.

I see it as "them." It's not that I'm trying to be exclusive. It's just that the people who like this behavior have self-segregated themselves from truly decent Americans. They've repudiated unity, mainly in favor of white supremacy.

... time and time again, throughout his entire miserable life, that he is totally and completely consumed with malice toward anything and everything that he does not have the intellectual capacity, nor the emotional desire, to understand. And that covers one hell of a lot of, shall we say, intellectual and emotional real estate.
He is, and always has been, a malignant sociopath who takes great pleasure in his inbred vindictiveness; he likes to hurt people, especially people who dare to disagree with him about anything. He brags publicly about the pleasure he derives from "getting even" with people, even when – perhaps more accurately, especially when – he is completely in the wrong, and he knows it, but will never, ever admit it. Never. Which is pretty much all the time.
Trump is rotten right down to his DNA, and he will only get meaner over time, and that's meaner by several orders of magnitude, over less and less elapsed time. It's already glaringly obvious, but his apologists, all with vested interests of one sort or another, gloss it over, with witless excuses like, "Oh, that's just Trump being Trump." When you substitute other historical names of unbelievable malevolence in that sentence, like, "Oh, that's just Pol Pot being Pol Pot", or "That's just Hitler being Hitler," you begin to see the obscenely poisonous absurdity of the remark.
Trump has to be stopped, and it has to be done by those that enabled him, or they, and everyone else on the planet, will be consumed by his colossal evil.
Trump, and every Republican, has the blood of these children on their hands, and those stains will never wash out. Never. They created the monster that is the ignorant part of the population that believes it is their God-given right to kill whatever they don't understand, anyone who doesn't conform to their sick, twisted view of the world, or just because their toast was burnt. 'Cause "Daddy" Trump gave them license to hate their fellow Americans for not worshipping a psychotic monster that paints its face orange, and cheats at golf.
Fuck 'em all.
