Dont just say this is about thoughts and prayers: Minneapolis mayor speaks on shooting at Catholic schoolMinneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey spoke to his community in a news conference.
These are kids that should be learning with their friends. They should be playing on the . They should be able to go to school or church in peace without the fear or risk of violence, and their parents should have the same kind of assurance. These are the sort of basic assurances that every family should have.

(2,859 posts)school is shot up by a mentally ill lunatic, and the go-to statement is to disparage prayer.
Good show. This is how we get everyone to come together, right?

(2,859 posts)insist that you pray with us.
But what if I asked you kindly to just never say anything hateful about others again?
Not sure if you actually do or not, my point is that most would scoff at the prospect and give me the "we have to fight back" baloney.
Spreading hatred is not fighting back. It's just mean, and it leads to shit like school shootings.
So no, you don't have to pray, no one is trying to make you do it either. But your reply is yet another example of what I describe.
"The prayers aren't really working, so let's do stuff that works since prayers don't do shit, never have"
Think about it. No one asked you to do anything, but you disparage those who pray. This serves nothing but the hate itself.

(99,204 posts)I used to pray. Cant imagine why my well has dried up, and my tears are not enough to fill it again.
I will never stop anyone from praying to whatever entity they consider holy. Please do.
But when RW politicians soil sacred words after legalizing and supporting the slaughter of children, I sincerely wish they would STFU and go to whatever hell they say they believe in.

(2,859 posts)try to stop me, well thanks so much. But you'll go on to mock me or other Christians for doing it. Do you wish I would also go to hell for praying for all those affected? I may not be a "right wing politician", but I am praying for them.
Also, would you mind explaining to me what you consider "sacred words" and why you consider them sacred?
And who "legalized and supported the slaughter of children"? I'd like the names of those people.

(99,204 posts)Every single RW politician who posed their family with lethal legal weapons on Christmas cards.
And then said the victims were in their thoughts and prayers. Really.
Hell? They created Hell.
In my opinion, formed decades ago, their god is not mine. Their god is Moloch. Jesus said those who harm children might as well have a millstone slung around their necks and be tossed in the lake. Moloch demands the sacrifice of children, in great numbers.
I used to pray regularly (to whom and how is mine to know) . Having a hard time with it now.
Mock you? How did you conclude that? Live faithfully. Treat your neighbor as yourself. Feed the poor, shelter the destitute. And I in turn will hope you are blessed.
Just never defend the RW of this nation in worshipping the 2nd Amendment above all. They are the ones who mock your faith and prayers.

(2,859 posts)me like you are a fan of misleading hyperbole and grandiose associations that are only connected by your own internal justifications rather than any kind of actual logic. None of what you explained translates to the " legalized and supported the slaughter of children".
But that's Ok, you do you.
But I'm sure it does our party a lot of favors by bashing the massive base of Christians who are registered Democrats and vote that way. Keep up the good work.

(9,495 posts)...is another man's "how about we actually fucking do something for a change to stop the gun violence in our country."
"Prayer" isn't policy -- and it has not been and will never be a solution to our gun violence.

(99,204 posts)They have become EXCUSES by those responsible for tragedy (RW 2nd Amendment worshipping politicians) for DOING NOTHING.
Thank you for this opportunity to say this.
