Republican Blames Iowa Senate District 1 Loss On Kim Reynolds And Iowa GOP Policies

https://blogforiowa.com/2025/08/28/republican-blames-iowa-senate-district-1-loss-on-kim-reynolds-and-iowa-gop-policies/

Sorry, I do not know how to copy this video from that site. It is about 17 minutes long but it is one hell of a rant!
He even takes a real good shot at Feenstra along with many at Covid Kim.

Even in Iowa, people - Republicans - are sick of GOP bullshit and stupid legislation and "owning the libs" and the sheer stupid pettiness of it all.

Paraphrase: "Even conservative teachers, they - if they saw Kim Reynolds broken down by the side of the road, they wouldn't stop to help."

Fascinating.

2. I was encouraged to hear a Republican note the attempt to neuter the power of the State Auditor's office

The did it only because Rob Sand is so good at his job. Republicans prefer to leave corruption alone when it is perpetrated by Republicans, and their current Kim Reynolds, is a grandmaster at that. Unfortunately for Iowa Republicans , Rob Sand is a grandmaster at communicating this to the public, especially on statewide media. I agree with this Iowa Republican that his party is making it easier for Rob to press his campaign for governor, and I fully expect Rob to win next year.I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the U.S. Senate within ten years. If Tip O'Neill was correct in saying that "all politics is local," then Rob personifies the best of that. He is from a tiny town of 8000 people in a rural corner of the state, is straightforward, smart and very personable. He is not some hick who knows nothing of the outside world, either. I have never set foot in Iowa, where Rob recently sent me a selfie of himself standing outside of my London office (!!!).

This guy in the rant seems to have a sober grasp on local politics, too. Too bad he's a Republican, but if things continue along their current path, I would place no bets on that being permanent. I certainly don't see Iowa Republicans changing any. Most of them seem happy with the way things are, and have no clue that things are definitely NOT the way they should be.

while she was wrecking the state. But Sand stood up to her. I am really hoping he wins and brings some sanity back.

If the race is Sand v. Feenstra this video would make great campaign material.

He avails himself of statewide media any time he can, and he's a creful talker. He'll take this as far as he can, and then he'll let his staff follow up when the flames start to die out. When Reynolds tried to rein in his leash, instead of whining and complaining about it, he brought it out to the public eye, and managed to make it clear that it was the public who was getting a shorter end of the stick than he was.
I'm sure he's aware of the video, but I'll ask him just to be certain.
