A Self Coup -- Does the U.S. Military Not Know What That Is?

Last edited Thu Aug 28, 2025, 02:28 PM - Edit history (2)

Gavin Newsom can see it. Youth can see it. WE see it. Corporate media don't see it.

No one profiting from this 2.0 cares who all see it or don't see it.

A self-coup, also called an autocoup (from Spanish autogolpe) or coup from the top, is a form of coup d'état in which a political leader, having come to power through legal means, stays in power illegally through the actions of themselves or their supporters.[1]

The leader may dissolve or render powerless the national legislature and unlawfully assume extraordinary powers. Other measures may include annulling the constitution, suspending civil courts, and having the head of government assume dictatorial powers.[2][3]

Since 2017 there have been seven self-coups, and seven attempted self-coups, counting the current one.

Even if (in Newsom v Trump) Judge Breyer and the Ninth District Court of Appeals rule that Trump violated the Posse Comitatus Act, one can only wonder if that's enough for the U.S. Military's oath to the Constitution to mean enough that they justify acting to end the nation's suffering over this self-coup.

They almost always are, and the US is not special in that (or any other) regard.

The military will not be the heroes who swoop in to save us. Do not plan or hope for that at the cost of doing something which is actually useful.

If you're so sure, then what specifically WILL be the "something which is actually useful"?

I wonder if those troops picking up trash in D.C. are going to be all-aboard the Trump train. There have been numerous retired military generals and other officers critical of Trump and I expect there are a lot more who take seriously their oaths to the Constitution. While I don't see them overthrowing Trump, I can imagine that some, perhaps many, would resist taking unlawful actions against U.S. citizens.

They deliberately carry Trump's water at all times.
