There is no acceptable excuse for owning one in light of how many treasured children & adults have had their lives snuffed out in mass shootings. If we lived in a just world assault weapons would have been outlawed after the first mass school shooting in Columbine.

Nobody on the face of this earth should own an assault weapon. It's not for hunting or self-defense. Its sole purpose is to kill as many people as possible in as short a time as possible.
