First I would acknowledge that I think Israel was fully justified to respond to the Oct. 7th attacks with force. That said, they had the worst possible man leading them. (a lot like us). And while the were justified to initially respond to counter attack Hamas, they have obviously taken it to an inhumane level.
I think we should not underestimate the extent to how horrific and traumatic the Oct. 7th attack was to Israel. I think a leader who wasn't the piece of shit Netanyahu is would have gone after Hamas and then searched for a solution to seek peace.
But I think Netanyahu decided early on to do what he has done, level Gaza and remove the Palestinians. It is a brutal and short sighted way to stop the threat fro Gaza.
Oct 7th was Israel's Pearl Harbor, and the American People had no problem with wiping Japan off the face of the Earth. It is an emotional response.
I think many Israelis are now seeing that it the death and destruction being done in their name is an abomination.
These are just musings on part, agree, disagree, it's all good. Just jotting down thoughts.

In conversation with Haaretz Podcast host Allison Kaplan Sommer, Harel said that Netanyahu "kept promising total victory, what he actually had was sort of a Forever War. It was not forever, but he was waiting for November, and for January 20 and for his friend Trump to be back in the White House."
What is the Israeli premier hoping to get out of his bet? Harel believes that in renewing the Bibi-Trump bromance, Netanyahu believes he can win U.S. support for measures that will stop his criminal trial - Trump after all, will certainly sympathize - and move ahead with the judicial coup that will damage Israeli democracy.
In the security and military arena, the Israeli leader aspires to achieve "more aggressive goals in the region, whether it's striking Iran or persuading the Americans to strike Iran, or pushing forward against the Palestinians and against Hezbollah and Lebanon."
