The end of government funding is authorized through September 30, 2025 which is the end of the fiscal year.

Congress will need to pass new legislation to fund the government or a government shutdown will occur.

Those that were cursing Schumer for preventing a shutdown will have that opportunity again.

There is no doubt in my mind that the rethugs would desire nothing more than the Democrats to shut down the government. In spite of the hypocrisy of the rethugs previous attempts to shut down the govenmernt, if the Democrats do not vote to keep the government open, the rethugs will use that as an election issue.

The question is how much pain from a government shutdown will hurt the Democrats in the midterms, if it is due to Democrats not voting for the funding?

That isn't an easy question. Issues of tariffs, inflation, and the attempt by this administration to make unitary executive theory the law of the land, which will give a president dictatorial power, not accountable to checks and balances is what is at stake.

That is why this attempt by the miscreant in the white house is trying to fire Fed Governor Lisa Cook. He wants this supreme court to give him ultimate dictatorial power, and if the attention is shifted to refunding the government rather then giving trump ultimate authority without accountability, they couldn't wish for more.

Trump has made it clear what he want by saying outright, "The court should defer to him on who he can fire"
