CVS will offer COVID vaccine in N.J. -- but limit access in neighboring states
"UPDATE: This story was updated Friday afternoon with a statement from CVS clarifying that the COVID vaccine will be offered in some states to customers with a prescription.
CVS Pharmacy will require a prescription for COVID-19 shots in 13 states and cease offering the shot in three other states entirely as the United States approaches respiratory virus season, company officials said.
The decision was based on the current regulatory environment, according to a CVS statement sent to NJ Advance Media on Friday. State rules on when pharmacies can administer vaccines vary from state to state.
Anyone who wants an updated COVID shot will be required to present a prescription in 13 states: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Utah, Virginia and West Virginia, along with the District of Columbia."
