Went to Walgreen's to try to get a covid booster today.

They used to accept walk-ins, but no luck this time; they told me that they expect to have the new formulation available next week, and to check back. I wonder. With Bobby Brainworm having blown up the CDC, will we ever get a covid vaccine again? And when we get sick will they even let us have Paxlovid?

This Walgreen's is only a block from the Annunciation school and church, which I drove by- not to gawk, but it's on my way home. Still lots of people, flowers and memorials and media, and blue and green ribbons tied around trees and utility poles for surrounding blocks. The shooting has already disappeared from national media, as always happens, but it's still a big deal here. We see photos of the murdered kids everywhere.

And I found out today that a good friend is in a hospital 200 miles from home with MRSA pneumonia, which is some nasty shit. He'll be OK but a slow recovery.

It's been this kind of day:

1. I didn't plan to get a Covid vaccine this year, but . . . .

I've reconsidered b/c with the vaccine being restricted and more people statistically having Covid, I'm going to get one. My chances of getting Covid will have increased.

I got the original two shots then a booster. Have not had vaccine since and have never had Covid. Things are different now that the number of vaccinated individuals is going to go way down. I may start wearing a mask again. I noticed an uptick in mask wearers recently.

2. If we can get Paxlovid, what will it cost this year? I think it is now hugely expensive.

You can get a plan number for the discount at the point of sale or submit the receipt afterwards if you qualify: https://www.paxlovid.com/paxcess

I literally scribbled my way through school. I sometimes wonder if I might have dyslexia that was never diagnosed because sometimes I have to read some words twice before they make sense. The school didn't check such things when I was in elementary school. 🤷‍♀️

For next month and Covid was not even on the list of vaccines they give.

I did see a ad by them to check back later. I think they are all waiting on permission.

The first time was before the vaccine and he was sick for more than a month, and still has some long Covid symptoms. Our son, who lived with us at the time also had Covid. Somehow I didn't get it.
I had it once, in 2022, after I had been vaccinated. I had an appointment for a booster when I got sick.
We are both 65. I'm very concerned about vaccine access because I'm concerned about getting him sick again.
I have no words for how angry I am about this absolute abdication of responsibility for public health by our government. Why have a government at all?

Took our COVID vaccination records to Walgreens . Yes, we need the new vaccine. It’s on order don’t know when they get it. Called local medical center. Same story . I’m retired military called local military hospital same story.

We are 80. We updated our end of life documents during the pandemic. We have made up our minds we will die this time.
