I admire Taylor Swift, even though I am not a fan.

I like a song or two, but in general, it's just not for me.

As a business person, an artist and just as a good person in the glare of "celebrity" - she has been amazing.

The fact that so many seem to want to tear her down baffles me.

Taylor is a world class artist with millions of adoring fans. She creates her own music and performs before sold out stadiums. She works hard and she is her own person.

Travis Kelce is a big enough man that he is OK with all of that and even encourages and supports her to be what she wants and I admire him for that. That would be my definition of a perfect male partner. Not that Kelce is any slouch in his own career, of course.

Not like my younger daughter, though, who knows the words and can tell me what album a given song is on.

People in the industry could see early on that TS was something. There is a great moment in a Larry King interview of Jon Bon Jovi from 2010 where Jon talks about up and comers. This is a four minute excerpt from the interview, but the whole interview is great if you seek out the other portions. Highly recommended. Jon Bon Jovi is a great guy and he recognized Taylor Swift's gravitas.

When she first came on the scene, she was the face of Walmart. There were huge Taylor cutouts in the store and there was clothing line at Walmart inspired by Taylor. I tried them on. Too tight on top..LOL https://archive.ph/W63Fl

I used to hear this song blaring at Walmart. They were promoting her album.
This was one of her first hits and the year was 2008.

&ab_channel=TaylorSwiftVEVO

I became quite familiar with her music early on because it was heavily promoted as Walmart and piped in.
Also, she was country, so she maybe didn't resonate with many on DU.

Alas, the demographics of the same Walmart has changed since then. Now we have Latin pops type music piped in. The Latin music at Walmart is generic. It's good, but can't be attributed to any artists or country. The music probably works in both South Texas, California and Miami. I wouldn't be surprised if it's piped in at their Mexico stores.

My daughters went to one of her concerts.

Two years ago, my older daughter was babysitting her friends' two young daughters for a few days, while the parents went on vacation. I stopped over one day. I asked the older girl, age 7, what she thought of Taylor? She said, "Oh, you can tell I'm a 'Swiftie' !" I said, "Why yes, it shows."

But a word of wisdom from Sister Perpetual Agony, that I share here to be passed on to the lovely couple , she said when under such stress, pop a Wintergreen mint in your mouth to divert your attention from potential sin.

I know that years ago my daughters went to see her in concert. I couldn't name any of her songs. But I did watch her join the Rolling Stones on stage by way of youtube a while back.

From everything I've read about her -- and heard from my daughters -- she is an outstanding human being. I have great respect for that.

Not a cutthroat, hard nose “bid’ness” person

gave $197 million in bonuses to her Eras Tour employees as the record-breaking tour concluded, with reports confirming the money was distributed to everyone from choreographers and dancers to truck drivers and caterers on top of their regular salaries. She also gave out a separate, earlier bonus of over $55 million to the tour's North American crew members.”

She is letting her conscience influence how she does things, instead of merely looking for the quickest profit.

And it is working for her. People feel she is genuine and sincere and they are drawn to that.

Far cry from our billionaire class that think empathy is a weakness.

Like when someone gets really popular there are those who come out of the woodwork to try tear them down. Goes for football teams, as well as other sports teams, and players too. When the Patriots football team kept winning the SB, people started tearing them down along with their QB, Tom Brady. Now it’s Patrick Mahomes turn to get that treatment along with his friend Travis and his fiancée Taylor.

Kelce is benevolent with his time and money, too. He recently donated $750,000 to an animal rescue Mission in KC and hosted a dog adoption event. They seem to be a terrific, caring couple. I wish them all the best.
