While we are chilling that bottle of the good stuff for the immediate news, we realize that a single bottle will not be sufficient. However, after toasting with The Widow, or whatever your choice is, one may go to something a bit more. .accessible. . .for the continuing celebration. For those lucky enough to have a Costco or Trader Joe's handy, they carry some very nice ones, including a 7.99 rose Prosecco at Costco. Your liquor stores no doubt carry some very nice ones as well.
Here's to The Celebration!!! The sooner, the better!!!

(380 posts)When I was deployed for desert storm, booze was banned from the based we operated from. Some guys started taking the liter water bottles and pouring out about 1/4 of the water, then putting in 5 or so of the dehydrated fruit packs from the MREs. (Meals Ready to Eat) Add in about 8 sugar packets, also from the MREs. Then crumble up a slice of bread for the yeast. Duct tape a surgical glove on in place of the lid. The glove would inflate from the fermentation process. When the glove went back down, take it off and filter out the fruit. Put the lid back on the bottle and wait a couple of weeks. Viola, fruit wine. Not a fine vintage, but wine none the less.

(6,577 posts)first, the more expensive, desired stuff. For me, it's Moet and Chandon. A treat I rarely get to enjoy.
After that, I move on to my usual enjoyment... Pirtles Mead. I love it, and can go several bottles myself, when the mood strikes me. My dad used to call it my "soda pop wine" (lol).

If you feel relief because his deportation policy will follow him into the great beyond, then perhaps a Strawberry Champagne Margarita?
If it's a nooner, then a Death in the Afternoon would be redundant. So, how about a Strawberry Champagne Fizz?
But dinner cocktail hour would require something bolder like Blackberry Champagne Mule.

(52,671 posts)I have a few bottles of Andre Cold Duck set aside for Trumps demise.
My family has a history with Cold Duck: when my dad was in the Bureau of Public Roads, the supervisor of the crew we were part of LOVED Cold Duck. Every year the crews Christmas gift from him, which he paid for with his own money, was a frozen Turkey and a bottle of Cold Duck. I dont think anyone else liked the wine, but it was the thought that counts.
So
the most undrinkable sparkling wine there is sounds just perfect for the death of our commie dictator.

They've been trying to "own" us for years, so now it's our turn. I will not be quiet about how I feel about his demise. I want people to know that I was not a party to the destruction of our democracy. I do fear that if the GOP are in power still when he croaks, they will go all out for the funeral.

(34,006 posts)I had an empty bottle when I was in high school. My parents gave it to me. In art class, we were required to do a still life. I copied the Mateus Rose bottle along with a bowl of fruit.
A year later, I put a candle in the neck of the bottle and let the wax flow down the bottle. We also had another bottle and did the same thing. The bottles would come out when we had spaghetti. They eventually disappeared when we moved. Who thought they would discontinue the bottle? It was so beautiful.
Lots of bottles are for sale on ebay. They run for about $15.

(24,541 posts)I was just texting my cousin about the bottle of bubbly that Ive got chilling. I chose it because its a beautiful sparkling wine from one of my favorite NW wineries. It makes me happy to see her snuggled in my fridge just waiting to be popped and enjoyed when the inevitable good news hits the airwaves. All that said, youre correct about the $7.99 bottle of Prosecco at Costco, niyad. Its quite good. I believe it has a DOCG designation which is one of the things I look for in an Italian wind.
Lets manifest this, people.
