Exactly 10 days after taking the presidential oath of office early this year, Donald Trump nearly drowned dozens, potentially hundreds, of his own citizens in Californias Central Valley.
Trump, unilaterally, decided he would solve Los Angeles wildfire problem by opening up taps to let billions of gallons of water being stored in two reservoirs in the Sierra Nevada foothills flow into Southern California.
Photo of beautiful water flow that I just opened in California. Today, 1.6 billion gallons and, in 3 days, it will be 5.2 billion gallons, he bragged on social media, along with a photo of water flowing in a stream. Everybody should be happy about this long fought Victory! I only wish they listened to me six years ago There would have been no fire!
Except not a single drop of those billions of gallons could possibly have made it to Los Angeles or anywhere even close. They would have, however, overflowed the banks of rivers leading out of Lake Kaweah and Success Lake, threatening residents in communities on their shores.
It was clearly nothing but a poor publicity stunt. And it was a dangerous one, California Democratic Sen. Alex Padilla said at the time. An unexpected, non-noticed release threatens lives, threatens the safety of communities if you flood somewhere without the proper coordination.

(862 posts)His screeds on Twitter and now Truth Social. He's never been smart. A bully who gets his way sure, but still a moron.

(62,883 posts)That is why he sucks in international affairs. He thinks he's the smartest guy in the room when he never is, and with no court system to back him up his threats and machinations don't work.
All he has are tariffs and sanctions, and the courts are finally getting around to reminding us that trump can't legally do what he has been doing. Will SCOTUS back that decision? They should, but hard to predict in the current situation.
Domestically, it's a race between voters deciding versus him rigging the system. In a just world, there's no way repubs could win in '26. They should get shellacked looking at polls these days. We'll see.

other. He has no interest in anything that doesnt benefit him transactionally, so he deems such things as unworthy of being understood. Yet he fears the label of an idiot, so he pretends to have ideas, plans and understanding of things about which he has no idea. When challenged in any way, he resorts to name calling and belittling the challenger, and claiming that only he can grasp the brilliance of what hes doing. He requires those around him to praise his greatness in obviously ridiculously staged fealty - but because his ego craves that praise so desperately, he hears it as genuine.
Hes seriously fucked up. I still struggle with how we can look at him and see all of that fucked-uppidness so plainly and clearly, yet millions look at that same circus and say thats my monkey.

(53,635 posts)That is what I refer to him as on DU. Either that or tRump. I refuse to write his real name since he is not a real POTUS as far as I am concerned. I did this with Bush as well. I never refer to any GOP POTUS as "president".
