doesn't make sense to me.
France, like many other countries, has had antisemitism inherent in its society seemingly forever. It's just a debate about the degree. To my understanding, French Jews have not been targeted and attacked by native French, immigrants, Muslims, on a large wholesale degree as of late.
To my way of thinking, the motivation behind the formal protest is one of two things:
1. To keep his name in the papers. He appears to be a lackluster ambassador and is feeling overlooked.
2. Like Trump angling for the Nobel Peace Prize, Kushner (and Trump) want the French Légion d'Honneur (Legion of Honor), France's highest honor.

(75,131 posts)Trump does nothing unless it benefits himself personally.
He has ordered Macron to do something, Macron will not comply,
so Trump is going to cause trouble for him. I don't believe Kushner or
any of Trump's lackeys act without Trump direct orders.

(3,747 posts)Trump and Netanyahu are pissed at Macron for announcing France will recognize a Palestinian state. They want Macron to capitulate.
Watch for more such undiplomatic letters to the leaders of the UK, Canada, Australia etc.
Apparently when a state wants to recognize Palestine it causes a wild upturn in anti-semitism. Or something
