The White House has warned Republican rebels in Congress that pushing for the full release of the Jeffrey Epstein pedophile abuse files would be seen as a very hostile act by President Donald Trump.
The GOP-controlled House Oversight and Government Reform Committee released more than 33,000 Epstein documents on Tuesday evening, after a closed-door meeting with multiple victims of Epstein and accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.
Democrats complained, however, 97 percent of the documents were already in the public record, and Republican Thomas Massie, who has clashed regularly with Trump this year, stepped up his push for a House vote on the release of the documents in full.
A White House official told CNN, Helping Thomas Massie and Liberal Democrats with their attention-seeking, while the DOJ is fully supporting a more comprehensive file release effort from the Oversight Committee, would be viewed as a very hostile act to the administration.

(20,159 posts)Here's the issue that I have NOT heard articulated by ANY "reporter / journalist."
Trump HANGING OUT WITH EPSTEIN, OFTEN, is not "fake news." HE DID.
That means he saw, first-hand, how "young" these women were. It's not like Trump spent an hour with him, left, and then Epstein yelled "OK, he's gone, bring out the underaged girls!"
Trump has no filters. He just says what's on his mind and doesn't give a damn about how anyone takes it. That's how we got the Access Hollywood tape.
So he was THERE. And, whoever wants to believe Ghislane "Golly Gee, I Sure Would Love A Pardon" Maxwell, he saw what was going on. He got a pretty good understanding of "what Jeff liked."
Now he wants to either pretend that he wasn't there, or that he was an innocent bystander.
ALAN DERSHOWITZ got a "massage" from one of Epstein's underaged girls and said it was OK "because he kept his underpants on."
That's what we're dealing with here, folks.

Isn't there ample evidence that a lot of trafficking of women and girls used 'modeling agencies' to round up and move 'talent'? And there are plenty of beautiful grown women to have pageants with so why did he insist on having one for teen age girls that he could walk in on while they were in states of undress?
Why?
BECAUSE HE'S A CHILD MOLESTER, likely rapist.

(20,159 posts)Trump and Epstein both used the same "Modeling Agency." She's tried to deny that's how they met but did you notice she SUED the Daily Mail (U.K.) for discussing her "past," but hasn't threatened to SUE anyone over the "Modeling Agency" comments? She's DENIED it, but she's even more petulant and litigious than her husband, so if it were a falsehood, SHE WOULD HAVE ALREADY SUED.

(6,037 posts)Was probably one of Jeffreys girls and, in fact, had sex with her BEFORE tRump did. We know the Republicans have pushed the narrative that Melania is a high class, educated, cultured woman. But none of that was ever true she was part of Epsteins stable of girls that he kept for himself and his friends. She was ambitious and when given the chance to meet tRump and had her chance to be wife #3, she succeeded in landing him. The bargain they made (pre-nup) is probably in a legal document three feet thick. LOL. It is highly likely that Melania drove a hard bargain that has been regularly amended to meet her increasing demands in order for her to remain married to DJT.

(2,978 posts)I'm not saying that all Fascist Republicans (which is a redundancy, I know, I know) are pedos, themselves. I'm just saying that so many of them are, it's understandable why they'd want to protect one of their own. The rest, of course, the non-pedos, are just sniveling moral cowards, like Mike Johnson.

Butler needs to be taught in US History, not ignored by it. His life is a study in dealing with manipulation, corruption of government by corporations and greedy bastards. All of the roots of today's problems.

(2,978 posts)I've always thought that he big shot fascists mistook his courage and discipline as a sign of mental weakness. They must have felt he was a patsy, easily manipulated.
But he pretended to be sucked in by their bullshit and went public with their treasonous plans to destroy America.
Some pols were riled by his testimony and, I'm sure, wanted to act on it. But most -- including FDR -- felt it more prudent to sweep it all under the feeling, I guess, that, after all, Butlers public testimony made the traitors (may they all continue burning in Hell) back off. Personally, I've often felt that public hangings of these rich oligarchic traitors would have had a beneficial effect on the patriotic pride of the American people.

(7,139 posts)This is a succinct bio of Butler with info on the corporate giants of the time who wanted him to lead the desperate WWI vets in a revolt against incoming FDR admin. Lots of those name are still around today. Very important read for a view on how the common man in the military was used and tossed out and the men of empire who profited and then wanted to emulate Hitler and Mussolini methods, IOW American fascists.

(2,978 posts)Butler was totally committed to America and to American law and order. A genuine Conservative from back when the word wasn't synonymous with Constitution shredding treason.
Also recently re-read "The Plot Against America", arguably Philip Roth's best novel; and watched the excellent HBO dramatization of it. Also, of course, Sinclair Lewis' "It Can't Happen Here," written in 1935 when Fascism was stretching its wings in Europe.
Two of the books I'd take with me to Yellow Knife -- which is my mythical escape haven for when it all comes crumbling down. Sadly, at 80 I'll have to stick around to see the MAGA marching morons have their fecal way with the land of my birth.

(3,502 posts)So far Republicans have caved to every threat.
Is it different with the Epstein files?
Will Massie himself hold up?
The threat is likely sufficient to keep the additional 2 he needs from siding with Massie.
Usually they allow a few dissdents as long as it's not enough to pass a vote. Anyone who has real power to pass a bill (like the additional 2 Rs they need) will be threatened with more than a primary.
I got my hopes up that Rs in the House would go for this en mass. But when it's down to a 2-3 critical votes, the risk is too high. I hope I'm wrong. This is our chance if there ever is one.
