Can we take a minute to understand an important, emerging component of this election?
The current Democratic mayor of NYC, who is absolutely a criminal, was given a "get out of jail free" card for kissing Mango Mussolini's...ring...is now in negotiations with the same said administration to bow out of the election in exchange, potentially, for an Ambassadorship in Saudi Arabia.
Why you ask?
Because the former Democratic governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, also a criminal, now running as an independent, and in a budding relationship with Mango Mussolini, can run in an open field, against just Mamdani.
Let that sink in: the current Democratic mayor of NYC and the former Democratic governor of the state of New York, are conspiring with the current Republican president of the US, against the official Democratic nominee for Mayor of NYC, Mamdani.
Despite that, Democratic leadership in Congress has been tepid, at best, about endorsing the Democratic Party's official nominee for Mayor of NYC.
He is likely to win anyway but this is a perfect example of where we are hurting ourselves, over and over again, like a reflex, to belittle or even attack, the liberal progressive members of the Democratic Party.
Then complain when they don't show up on Election Day.
Rank and file Democrats are begging for younger leaders.
Rank and file Democrats are begging for bigger ideas.
Rank and file Democrats are begging Democratic leadership to embrace more progressive ideas.
Yes, we need to support Democrats. So how about we try supporting the Democrats and the ideas, that are packing venues for people like Bernie and AOC?
How about we support the guy with a funny sounding last name that won his primary by double digits and believes in a better housing and urban development model than the same old thing?
Support Democrats. Even the "crazy" Democrats that want to give people free rides on public transportation.
We, as a country, are in a very bad place and we desperately need to move the country back to the left politically and that is not going to happen by ignoring the progressive wing of the Party. It's only going to make things worse.

(5,564 posts)and will proudly vote for him in the election. I don't care who or who doesn't endorse him. I've never based my vote on an endorsement. I think this whole thing is just a distraction. Another purity test. If you want Mamdani to win go volunteer at one of his local offices or donate money to his campaign. Don't waste time complaining that someone didn't endorse him.

(11,085 posts)It's about Democrats, especially Democratic Party leaders, getting out in front and leading.
While endorsements may not mean something to some, it matters because it shows support from Party leadership and leadership can use their influence in the Party to help drive contributions to Democratic candidates.
We desperately need to stack the deck and get as many Democrats as we can elected to office, at every level but especially the state, county and city level.
And this election is a not just some city mayoral race. It's the largest city in the country and one of the most important cities in the world.
(Not from or in NYC. I'm just advocating for a more resilient and inclusive Democratic Party)

(36,887 posts)NJ dems are staying out of this. Shittarelli is claiming that Sherrill is talking about trans people. She isn't. But we can't give that asshole ANY sound bites 9 weeks out.
Spanberger and Sherrill will be ignored on election night. For a week after the election it's going to be Mamdani 24*7.
But the two elections that will put the magapubs back on their heels are the NJ and VA gubernatorial elections.
Mikie Sherill doesn't play nice. From what I know about Spanberger - She doesn't play nice either. They'll both be able to show how you run a state when you have a mandate. Scorched earth.

(36,887 posts)And I'm begging for soft secession (for now), Cultural hammers, and cruelty to the magapub electorate. I also want swift trial and brutal punishment for magapub leaders, HSI, and ICE when the regime falls.
I don't care if you are 80 or 25.
If you promise me that - I'm in your corner.

(31 posts)I am very concerned about the example that is being set by anybody in our party
if an individual doesnt want to support the partys nominee now, it complicates their ability to ask voters to support any nominee later.
Vote Blue No Matter Who can't just be a one-way street, or a club with which to beat progressives over the head.
