Busy day. I have blocked/deleted several scam calls in the last few hours. Of course, I never answer anything not programmed in, as any legitimate business will leave a message. So here is a message I received today that I will NOT be returning:
"This message is solely intended for [my full name]. Regarding file number 2025-JAX-2[xxxxxx] in reference to the address on [my address]... [part did not transcribe]... If you have any questions or need to reschedule the delivery, you will need to contact the firm directly at 855-622-0085 and reference your file number. Please be advised this call has been logged and submitted as proof that you have been notified of this pending matter. Have a good day... "
There was more in the voice mail, but above was all that transcribed to text. Said something about [their supposed name] being a private firm contracted to deliver legal papers, blah, blah, blah.
Oh yeah, and totally computer generated, with "fill-in-the-blanks" voicing for my name and address.
Just a heads up to fellow DUers to be careful

(36,208 posts)When I tell them Im 97 they hang up.
Lately, some have an 800 number on my caller ID. They are nice enough to say they will add my name to the Do not call list,

(576 posts)a really convoluted word salad response that would make them think I was just completely off the deep-end and so hang up. I hear other people's stories sometimes and wish I could come up with something good. Sigh... Not answering is more my speed!

(576 posts)I hate giving my info to any company anymore, as it always seems to wind up being used by a third party, whether on purpose or due to hacking. It's like the three S's in business stand for "Share, Sell and Steal" customer data!

(576 posts)I usually get at least a few a day. This was one of the very few times anyone has left a message. Most of my spam email and text messages are political ones, but lately it seems I'm seeing more of the ones where they are impersonating some company.

(11,146 posts)There were also several more scattered throughout the day. I was wondering if somehow my number had been resold this afternoon. It was an interesting mix of area codes; most from my previous state of residence, but a new crop from my current area as well. I answered none, and no messages were left.
Thanks for your post. Misery loves company and at least I know I wasn't alone.
