https://indivisible.actionkit.com/mailings/view/120205That massive coverup of the Epstein files by Trump, the DOJ, and Republican leaders could be close to unraveling.
Last month, Speaker Mike Johnson shut down House business a week early to block a vote on their release. He -- and Trump -- hoped attention would dissipate and things would cool down after a long summer recess.
Nope. Congress returned this week, and so did demands for transparency and accountability. Victims descended on Capitol Hill to share their harrowing stories and demand justice. Desperate, Republican leadership tried to take the heat off themselves by putting 33,000 documents online and claiming the Epstein files had been released. Nothing else to see here, no need for a vote!
That didnt work either. The dump represented a mere 1% of the total files in the investigation, and the vast majority contained information that was already public. No one was fooled.
So now -- in the face of obstruction, lies, and threats from the White House and Speakers office, Members of Congress are pushing forward with a discharge petition to force a vote on releasing the files. Only two more Republican members need to sign and this vote WILL happen.
Today, were asking you to call your representative and urge them to sign the discharge petition forcing a vote on the Epstein files. Use our call tool to tell them its time for the truth to come out and for abusers to face the music.

Its been reported that the White House is running a massive pressure campaign to keep Republicans from signing the discharge petition. Members whove spent years pledging to expose Epsteins associates are now becoming accomplices in the coverup for fear of political retribution if they defy Trump or embarrass the powerful people named in the files.
Tough. If Epsteins victims could summon the bravery to speak publicly about their trauma, then these members can find the modicum of courage it takes to defy Trump and expose rich and powerful abusers.
But of course, they arent going to do the right thing on their own. We need to continue mounting constituent pressure above and beyond what these members are getting from Trump.
At a press conference this week, Rep. Thomas Massie -- the Republican who introduced the discharge petition along with Rep. Ro Khanna -- beseeched viewers: Burn down the phone lines and stand up for these survivors.
Lets do it. Call your Republican representative today and demand they sign the discharge petition and force a vote on releasing the Epstein files immediately.

(20,089 posts)I only worry that the DOJ has had sufficient time to "magically transform" the files with the AI machine to indict all Trump's "enemies"
Take this statement with two possible meanings.
Trump: DOJ has 'done its job' on Epstein files

Thanks, Yo_Mama_Been_Loggin
It could mean, "there's nothing more to see", or
DOJ has "done a job" on the Epstein files, as in "altered and destroyed."
I worked for a small company where a person walked in, picked up a chair, and sat by the front door until the boss paid him some debt. I am sure there were many more who didn't have the gumption to call him on it.
The boss said "Well, someone should take him out"
One meaning of that was "Someone should take him out to lunch, to appease him"
Another meaning, familiar to those of us who grew up in mafia towns, was
"Someone should take him out" and dump the body in the estuary.
You never know, with a double-talking exploiter.
From the above article (a reply):
But the fact that he wants it all sealed in a mayonnaise jar on Funk And Wagnall's front porch suggests that they haven't rewritten all the evidence.
Maybe only Carnac knows?
