The Omaha-based group "Pissed off Grandmas" was only able to attend a few minutes of U.S. Sen. Pete Ricketts' federal issues forum at the Nebraska State Fair last week before their vocal objections to the One Big Beautiful Bill led security and police to direct the grannies to leave.
The experience left the group frustrated that they couldn't address one of their federal officials and taken aback that they were kicked out for speaking up at an event any fair ticketholder could have entered. But they were not deterred members said this week they remain fired up, ready to demonstrate and able to gather at the drop of a sun hat.
The grandmas pointed to the description of Ricketts' forum and said they expected some dialogue between the senator and the audience of about 200 fair patrons who chose to attend the forum.
The description in the fair brochure states, "Join U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts for a public forum to discuss key issues and hear from Nebraskans."
