https://www.newsweek.com/cyrus-javadi-becomes-democrat-leaves-gop-2127109Oregon state Representative Cyrus Javadi has left the Republican Party to become a Democrat, he announced this week.
In a statement to Newsweek, Javadi said he "switched because the Republican Party abandoned the principles that drew me to it in the first place: limited government, fiscal responsibility, free speech, free trade, and, above all, the rule of law."

Welcome to the team. But your role is to just vote with the caucus. Just like you did in the GOP. Anyone who has been a Republican should not be asked for any input or opinion.

(3,345 posts)4. An unsettling passage from the article
Since 2024, at least three other elected Republicans have left the party to become independents. Meanwhile, at least eight Democrats have left the party in the same time frame.
Most current republican policies are horribly unpopular, but it's still easier to be one, clearly. I think it's shameful to abandon decent values to become a conservative culture warrior.
