Let's see if Kash's FBI is up to this task

Some good points….

No way to know yet if this points to any particular LE failure or the shooter just got lucky, but either way it has been an unusually long amount time, especially to have issued no description of a suspect. The combination implies they really don't have much if anything to go on.

Because we have people who subscribe to conspiracy theories running our government, it is highly likely that confirmation bias, rather than actual facts, are going to drive this investigation. Which means wasted time, wasted resources, and less justice. But I guess that’s what America voted for

I have serious doubts as to whether, after all of its politically-motivated firings, the FBI has the capacity and expertise to actually investigate Kirk’s murder. The lawsuit filed today against Patel and the Bureau describes a complete clown show that leaves all of us less safe

So twice they've now claimed they caught the shooter only to backtrack and say they had the wrong person? Twice?

Really inspiring confidence.

Shooter goes to the trouble of doing this in broad daylight to make a statement and then vanishes. If it's political, you would think they want to take responsibility.

How many aspects of our society does this apply to now?

FBI
Anti Terrorism
Policing
CDC
HHR
Education
Foreign Aid

And on and on...

4. This is either going to be a quick track like Luigi Mangione

or an enduring mystery.

It does seem like they have 1) no idea who this shooter might be or even what they look like and 2) no idea where the shooter might be.

Now, UVU, like most universities, is awash in cameras. They are collecting all that and will likely be able to do some sighting and tracing by following the cameras. It seems pretty clear that the shooter was on the roof of the building to the right of Kirk. So, they'll start there. The gun is a real mystery. Obviously, the shooter's best bet is to dump the gun and blend into the crowd (which was basically allowed to fly to the four winds), but the authorities would have found the rifle by now. Hand-off?

Between cameras and tips, they tracked down the Boston bombers, the Highland Park Shooter, and Luigi Mangione all very quickly. I can see that happening here. But if we're still in this no visual mode by the weekend, then this guy could be ghost. Crazy stuff.

5. As noted, once they claim to have found the shooter, why should anyone believe them?

They have no credibility right now.

Once they say they have evidence of X, Y, Z... Even after they show that evidence, will anyone believe it was genuine and not fabricated?

So I think this will be what our government will focus on proving.
That was trump's nod and wink.

Kash will tell the FBI to make sure it's pinned on the next suspect no matter what to make him stop looking incompetent.
