(15,871 posts)Ban all long rifles. Should be a winning campaign message.
The RW has been claiming Democratics want to take away their hunting rifles for decades.

(10,967 posts)But not just write a Bill, they have to get out and promote it big time. Develop a Democratic Project 2026/2028.
They won't though. We'll be sitting here next year before midterms still criticizing trump but offering no change that appeals to voters.

I truly believe they are sufficient in number to flip Congress Democratic, provided there are Democratic Party candidates on the ballot.

(21,985 posts)what would be in this Act?
A bolt action .30-06 is perhaps the most typical hunting rifle; the type weapon (almost) no one says they want to take away.

assault weapon bans.
Parents on the hook if their kids do bad things with their guns.

(21,985 posts)When does parents responsibility end for crimes done by their children?
I think it would be a tough sell to shove an assault rifle ban into an act in response to a shooting where an assault rifle was not used.
Lucky Luciano
(11,734 posts)The kid didnt even use an assault weapon, but I am saying to ban those as part of any bill. Also, as for being a generic bill, of course the parents in this case are not responsible, but would be in many other cases
usually in school shootings.
Naming it the Charlie Kirk bill is obviously just trolling, but reasonable bills should be passed.

(9,043 posts)...before the Republicans got around to voting against it they would all be "on message" about how the Democrats were exploiting Kirk's death to advance their "agenda". This would be repeated daily by everyone in the MAGAverse and ultimately Republicans would have no reservations about voting against the proposed bill.
