(3,042 posts)Among other things, the Groypers are obsessed with radtrad Catholicism (Latin Mass zealotry, "Deus Vult" memes, etc.), Pepe memes (where Pepe is often in Nazi/SS uniforms), and white ethnostates (the former Rhodesia in particular). The hosts of the Chapo Trap House podcast had a run-in with some of Nick Fuentes' "feral Groypers" at a CPAC event some years ago. Unfortunately, I think that particular show (episode #294) is now behind a paywall. (Several clips have also disappeared from YouTube).
Nick Fuentes' followers (the Groypers, more or less) used to show up to Charlie Kirk/TPUSA events to torment Kirk for being insufficiently extremist. It became quite the internecine conflict on the far right. There used to be any number of YouTube clips where Groypers would show up to Charlie Kirk's events and attack him endlessly with long, convoluted questions that were really just rhetorical statements. It was very embarrassing for Kirk, who tried to ban the Groypers from his talks, usually unsuccessfully.

Trumps Latest Dinner Guest: Nick Fuentes, White Supremacist
The former presidents table for four at Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday also included Kanye West, whose antisemitic statements have made him an entertainment-industry outcast.

By Maggie Haberman and Alan Feuer Nov. 25, 2022
Former President Donald J. Trump on Tuesday night had dinner with Nick Fuentes, an outspoken antisemite and racist who is one of the countrys most prominent young white supremacists, at Mr. Trumps private club in Florida, advisers to Mr. Trump conceded on Friday.
Also at the dinner was the performer Kanye West, who has also been denounced for making antisemitic statements. Mr. West traveled to meet with Mr. Trump at the club, Mar-a-Lago, and brought Mr. Fuentes along, the advisers said.
....................
................
Even taking at face value Mr. Trumps protestation that he knew nothing of Mr. Fuentes, the apparent ease with which Mr. Fuentes arrived at the home of a former president who is under multiple investigations including one related to keeping classified documents at Mar-a-Lago long after he left office underscores the undisciplined, uncontrolled nature of Mr. Trumps post-presidency just 10 days into his third campaign for the White House.
This is just another example of an awful lack of judgment from Donald Trump, which, combined with his past poor judgments, make him an untenable general election candidate for the Republican Party in 2024, said Chris Christie, a former governor of New Jersey who is considering a candidacy of his own....................

(41,734 posts)has alienated many right wing groups for different reasons, to the point where they avoid Fuentes' purity confrontations. Yes, Fuentes' stalking them makes him look bad, but it also makes his froggy followers in their moms' basements feel powerful.
And though I do see Robinson's motivation as ideological along Groyper lines, I can't see any direct connection between his killing Kirk and Groypers at large.
My gut theory is that even though Fuentes had attempted confrontations with Kirk, the shooter himself likely didn't represent Fuentes in deciding to kill Kirk, nor did Fuentes or other Groypers suborn Robinson.
Unless Robinson says under oath that he was both motivated by Groyper ideology and was directed by any Groyper to kill Kirk, I can't see any coconspirator evidence that would either enhance or mitigate any charges filed against the shooter. Which is why his family knew they alone had to come to his aid and get his defense prepared.
I could be wrong...

EVERGREEN The 16-year-old boy who shot two students and then himself at Evergreen High School this week appeared to espouse white supremacist views online and showed an interest in mass shooters in the days before the attack. Social media accounts that appear to be connected to shooter Desmond Holly are littered with references to mass shootings and antisemitic views, The Denver Post found.
Jefferson County Sheriffs Office spokeswoman Jacki Kelley on Thursday said Desmond had been radicalized through an extremist network, but declined to offer any additional details. The public accounts offer some insight into what that radicalization might have included. In one photo posted on TikTok five days ago, Desmond appears to be wearing a black T-shirt with the word Wrath written in red across the chest similar to what one of the attackers wore in the 1999 massacre at Columbine High School, also in Jefferson County.
The same post also includes an image of the 15-year-old who killed two people and injured six more at a Madison, Wisconsin, school in December. A post on X about an hour before Wednesdays attack shows an image of a hand holding a revolver the type of weapon that authorities confirmed Desmond used during the attack. Representatives for the sheriffs office did not answer specific questions about the social media accounts.
The accounts also include references to Holocaust denial, and the name of one of the accounts appeared to end with a reference to a prominent white supremacist slogan. That account reposted several videos showing school shooting scenes from movies, as well as another video that appeared to show the two Columbine shooters taking target shots at bowling pins. Other videos the account reposted were explicitly antisemitic or depicted people in Nazi uniforms.

they found a social media post from 7 years ago (when he was 15) were he is dressed as a meme of Pepe.
in 7 years a person can change a lot, especially from a 15yo to a 22yo

then Lemon ludicrously tries to say that 'He fascist! Catch!' (one of multiple anti-fash engravings on the shell casings) is a Groyper saying
and they had no idea what Bella ciao, bella ciao, bella ciao ciao ciao (another engraving on a shell casing) means
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bella_ciao
"Bella ciao" (Italian pronunciation: [ˈbɛlla ˈtʃaːo]) is an Italian song dedicated to the partisans of the Italian resistance, who fought against the occupying troops of Nazi Germany and the collaborationist Fascist forces during the liberation of Italy.
bottom line (and they admit none of their speculation is at all confirmed or proven) I am not at all convinced atm that Robinson is currently a Groyper

(38,710 posts)Its not hard to see where the antifascist conclusion came from on two of the other bullets: Bella ciao is an Italian song adopted by partisans and resistance fighters while Italy was governed by the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. Cox said in response to a question during the conference that the hey fascist message speaks for itself. Three downward-slanting arrows are a symbol used by both historical and contemporary antifascists.
But the full arrow sequence was quickly recognized as something else: a combo from Helldivers 2 for calling the Eagle 500kg Bomb stratagem. The world of Helldivers which evokes Robert Heinleins book Starship Troopers and the subsequent movie concerns fascism thematically; developer Arrowhead has characterized it as a satire where players fight for a fascist state.
As for the use of Bella ciao, the song has no obvious connection but given its historical significance, unsurprisingly does appear in a Helldivers 2 mod, as well as in at least one other video game, a World War II-themed strategy game called Hearts of Iron IV.
Fans of the game immediately noticed. Shortly after the press conference on Friday morning, the Helldivers subreddit was flooded with players who had picked up on what may be references to the game. A thread, now deleted, was titled: Hey Facist Catch! with the poster asking, Did anyone else hear/notice?! A commenter, responding to the thread, said, The moment I heard [the arrows] my eyes widened.
Another thread, also apparently deleted by moderators, referenced the arrows that authorities say were on one of the unfired bullet casings recovered at the scene. It sickens me having people like this playing this game and using it to real violence to tarnish this awesome game and community, the poster wrote. Other posts implored the subreddit moderators to lock down the forum. Moderators for the subreddit didnt immediately respond to a request for comment. A thread in the separate r/Helldivers2 subreddit remains active, with people discussing the apparent parallels.

(11,243 posts)Public records showed the shooting suspect's residential address, in contrast, was in Washington, Utah, at ZIP code 84780 physically close to the Robinson who donated to Trump, but not the same address.
The Federal Election Commission website has published the Trump donor's full address. Looking at that address using the Washington County, Utah, property search webpage found that the Robinson who donated to Trump bought the St. George house along with his wife, according to the deed; the Trump donor sold that home in 2022, according to additional records.
The shooting suspect, reportedly a 22-year-old as of this writing, would have been a minor in 2019.

(3,042 posts)...have some kind of appeal to marginalized groups, particularly young white men. I can't say that I understand it at all. There is definitely an overlap with other more moderate, yet far-right movements: the "Proud Boys", MAGA followers, radtrads currently tearing apart the Catholic church, the "tradwife" phenomenon, etc. I wish that the Chapo Trap House podcast mentioned in my previous post (#59) was still available (I can't even find relevant clips on YouTube); they were accosted by the Groypers at a CPAC event. The Chapo hosts in other shows have discussed how these incipient fascist movements appeal to the same disaffected, marginalized men that join destructive groups like Boko Haram and ISIS in the Third World.

(6,967 posts)In your opinion grok what do these symbols track his political beliefs in?
This crowd positions itself as hyper-patriotic, pro-Trump conservatives who see mainstream Republicans like Charlie Kirk as sellouts or "fake conservatives" infected by globalism, liberalism, or even fascism-lite. The "bulges OWO" bit is a crude, mocking nod to transphobic memes that originated on Tumblr but got co-opted by right-wing trolls to "spot" trans people in crowdspure Groyper-style bigotry. "Bella Ciao" flips an anti-fascist WWII partisan song into ironic ammo for ridiculing leftists, while tying into their beef with "fascist" establishment figures like Kirk (whom Fuentes has repeatedly trashed). The "gay" taunt is straight-up homophobic bait, emblematic of the group's anti-LGBTQ venom. And "Catch this fascist"? That's a direct shot at Kirk, framing the attack as purging a traitor from the right.
Overall, it's not antifa or trans activismit's the toxic underbelly of the MAGA ecosystem, where online radicalization turns personal grievances into violence against perceived ideological impurities. Robinson's Republican registration and Trump donations fit the profile: a young guy steeped in gun culture and pandemic-era echo chambers, lashing out at "the enemy within" on his own side. Tragic, but a reminder that extremism doesn't care about party linesit just amplifies hate.
