(23,368 posts)But this is at least 95% him and the Right went nuts on the left before they had even a shred of evidence the shooter was leftist.
He posted Pepe the Frog memes. Dressed in that Trump costume for Halloween. And he's rumored to be a disciple of Nick Fuentes, who was feuding with Kirk.
He was from a Right Wing gun nut family.
Pretty safe to say he was Alt Right at least and likely a White Nationalist.

According to the Federal Election Commission, the Tyler Robinson who donated $224.48 to Trump listed an occupation of "ENTREPRENEUR" and lived in St. George, Utah, at ZIP code 84790. That Robinson donated the money on Oct. 5, 2020, to the "TRUMP MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN COMMITTEE."
Public records showed the shooting suspect's residential address, in contrast, was in Washington, Utah, at ZIP code 84780 physically close to the Robinson who donated to Trump, but not the same address.
The Federal Election Commission website has published the Trump donor's full address. Looking at that address using the Washington County, Utah, property search webpage found that the Robinson who donated to Trump bought the St. George house along with his wife, according to the deed; the Trump donor sold that home in 2022, according to additional records.
The shooting suspect, reportedly a 22-year-old as of this writing, would have been a minor in 2019. In Utah, children can only own or sell property if they are emancipated or married but social media posts from the suspect's mother depicted a close-knit family, according to USA Today, thus suggesting Robinson was not emancipated, and there was no indication that the suspect had married anyone; reputable news reports would have certainly included that.

OTOH there are a lot of Mormons ( the families tend to stay near their childhood homes... not to mention that they sometimes have a large number of spouses with even more children ) so there could be more tylers in the Robinson clan

(15,939 posts)"Authorities said there were messages written on the fired casing and three unfired bullets found in the Mauser rifle allegedly used in the shooting."
"The fired casing, according to Utah governor Spencer Cox, read, 'Notices bulges OwO Whats This?' The phrase references an internet meme tied to animated videos and furry culture. OwO references an emoticon, and 'whats this?' denotes cuteness or curiosity. Its frequently referenced by video game streamers."
"One of the unfired casings said, according to Cox: Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao. The lyrics reference the anthem of the antifascist Italian resistance during World War II."
"Cox said that another read, 'Hey fascist! Catch!' The casing also had a series of arrows that pointed up, right, down, down, and down in reference to a cooperative shooter video game called Helldivers 2. The input is the code for an airstrike. It has morphed into a meme and is used to imply a devastating reaction to something that should be destroyed."
"The third unfired casing, according to Cox, said, 'If youre reading this, youre gay LMAO.' "

"Bella ciao" (Italian pronunciation: [ˈbɛlla ˈtʃaːo]) is an Italian song dedicated to the partisans of the Italian resistance, who fought against the occupying troops of Nazi Germany and the collaborationist Fascist forces during the liberation of Italy.
"Bella Ciao" (Goodbye, Beautiful) is an Italian workers' song that gained popularity for association with the Anti-Fascist partisans of the Committee for National Liberation (Comitato di Liberazione Nazionale, CLN). It was first written in the late 1800s and sung by striking farmers in Northern Italy, but modern lyrics dedicated to the Partisans became popular in the 20th century, effectively transforming it into an anti-fascist anthem, even if it does not find its actual roots in the Italian Civil War. These days it is one of the most popular anti-fascist songs of all time, if not the most popular. Performed here by my favourite choir, the Trieste Partisan Choir (Traki partizanski pevski zbor / Coro partigiano Triestino).

(15,939 posts)"Usage in video games and modern culture...Recent popularity has led to the song's inclusion in various media, including: Money Heist (20172018), the Spanish Netflix series prominently features 'Bella Ciao.'; Far Cry 6 (2021), an adapted version titled 'Bella Ciao de Libertad' is a revolutionary song opposing the fictional dictator of Yara; Hearts of Iron IV (2022), a choir version was released as part of the DLC By Blood Alone for this grand strategy game."
I'm not a gamer, don't know anything about the gaming culture, but this connection has been reported by several reliable sources, and on numerous postings here on DU. Like this one:

In 2017 and 2018, the song received renewed popularity due to the singing of "Bella ciao" multiple times in the Spanish television series Money Heist. The character Tokyo recounts in one of her narrations, "The life of the Professor revolved around a single idea: Resistance. His grandfather, who had fought against the fascists in Italy, taught him the song and he taught us." The song is played in emblematic moments in the series as a metaphor for freedom.
In the German protests against the rising right-extremist party AfD in January 2025, the song was chanted by around 600 people in Würzburg. The event produced a viral TikTok-video with 3.4 million views within 4 days, documenting the chants during the protest.
snip
The song was the inspiration for the #EleNão movement against right wing Brazilian presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro.
During nationwide protests in Colombia in 2019, the anti-fascist song was adapted by demonstrators to oppose the government of Iván Duque of the Centro Democrático party, who have been for years questioned or investigated for systematic violations of the Constitution, the environment, Human Rights and Crimes against humanity. As the presidential period of Duque ends in 2022, since 2019 the song, dubbed as 'Duque Chao', is sung and interpreted in protests in Colombia and by the diáspora, also during the national strike demonstrations of April and May 2021, in which citizens have been killed, injured and disappeared by state police forces.
snip
In 2023, unionists from the Italian General Confederation of Labour, Italian Confederation of Trade Unions, and Italian Labour Union sang "Bella Ciao" to protest Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who has been criticized for her party's neo-fascist origins Similarly, in 2024, left-wing MEPs sang "Bella Ciao" in the European Parliament on the occasion of a visit by Hungary's authoritarian prime minister Viktor Orbán.

Being a gamer doesn't do much to point to a motive here, but being a Groyper would -- and it would make sense with the available evidence that is out there, hence why people are bringing it up.

(51,902 posts)saves (it had less than that the first time I checked before, but now it is being exposed on social media, so it is attracting 'fans') is hardly definitive proof on its own that Robinson is a Groyper.
That list is just the product of some rando Spotify user with FIVE followers, not some official Groyper product.
It is all over the place in terms of songs and artists with a tonne of huge pop stars and rappers included:
Ellie Goulding, Kid Cudi, Calvin Harris, Spongebob Squarepants, Estelle, Huey Lewis & The News, Imogen Heap, Clams Casino, Tame Impala, Katrina & The Waves, MGMT, A$AP Rocky, Empire Of The Sun, Meek Mill, etc.
I do not think it is some smoking gun (pardon the pun) proof.

(16,806 posts)I'm seeing that the Tyler Robinson who owned the home at the address in the FEC record owned it from 2019 - 2021.
A 30-something Tyler Robinson from St George, UT shows up in the "peoplefinder" type services - I'm guessing that he's the one that made the donation, not the 22 year old suspect.

(16,313 posts)No, Tyler Robinsonthe 22-year-old Utah resident arrested as the suspect in the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirkdid not make any donation to a MAGA organization or Donald Trump's 2020 campaign. Social media claims linking him to a $250 donation from St. George, Utah, in 2020 stem from a case of mistaken identity, as the donor is a different person with the same common name. Federal Election Commission (FEC) records show no contributions from the suspect, who is registered to vote as unaffiliated (inactive, with no voting history in recent elections) and has no documented ties to political donations.
