One wouldn't want to cause material damage, so to speak.

(20,333 posts)Not causing them to unmask. Fabric coloring is fairly permanent,

(20,623 posts)I am sure that the same face recognition that they use could be adapted, though perhaps with more open software tools.
Glitter is "permanent enough" without being "permanent" in a "damages" sense.

(20,333 posts)Just trying to think of ways to identify, because i'm thinking that they will never be forced to remove masks. I cannot believe, in our great country, these so called law enforcement asshole are allowed to do what they are doing? Someone has the answer, i don't but would love a perfect way to identify them personally.

(20,333 posts)by the appeals court, or Supreme court. I just don't understand how ICE gets away with it? States should be allowed to stop ICE in their states. At the very least States should be given NAMES of all ICE personal coming to their state, PLUS wages paid each one!! Should be a matter of public record what their wages are!!

SickOfTheOnePct
(8,515 posts)...they can be easily identified and prosecuted; taking their masks off won't make any difference in that case.
I don't understand why people think it's so important to identify them at the time of the operations.

(20,333 posts)There are thousands of ICE, so how to get the one that commits the crime? Please explain.
SickOfTheOnePct
(8,515 posts)Then shown to local prosecutors for them to decide if, by what they see, a crime has been committed? You don't need a name in order to see if someone is committing a crime.
If the local prosecutors feel they are committing a crime, they can seek warrants to have the feds identify them, and proceed from there.

They claim they are concerned about "retaliation" (i.e. having done unto them) but the court of public opinion is what they truly fear.

(5,731 posts)law-breaking police personnel are masked. Moreover, imitators can impersonate masked law officers more easily. For the purpose of legal purposes, arresting officials are in power and can physically or sexually abuse those they arrest. Those arrested have a civil right to know who arrested them.

(15,952 posts)How?
If I have an interaction with a police officer, how would them not having a mask make it obvious to me they are or aren't an imposter?
I would have to somehow memorize the faces of every single police officer in order to know they are legitimate.

(58,824 posts)of their brutality. As individuals, theyre *actively* choosing their employerthey werent drafted; they applied for the job and by all reports are well compensated. Require them to show their faces, just as the rest of us must show our faces in public and bear the consequences. (Also, they should have no choice to turn off body cams. Theyre OUR employees and we have every reason to expect to be able to monitor the on-the-job interactions of our armed employees.)

They signed up to be thugs so Ill hit them (and those who support this brutality) closest to home. Ive had to do it with my hateful, racist sister, so I can do it with people I dont even know.

I think the video you linked to is hilarious, and I support it 100%; it's in a public space, and something similar could be done to ICE agents whether they have their masks on or off.
But tracking down their personal information - where they live, where their spouse lives, where their kids go to school? Sorry, I don't support that.

(50,932 posts)The guy did not have a mask on. He had an over sprayed grayish fluff on the top of his head and a beard to match. Seemed to flaunt it.
The way he justified the stop based on "Trying to make America safe again," was despicable.
Point is, after seeing his face, I understand why they opt for masks.

This is a matter that must be decided by the courts and/or Congress. Masked thugs breaking into homes and cars, or throwing protestors roughly to the ground must stop.
Call your Repug Senators -- especially in red states. Resistance only works if attacked at multiple levels and by many people.

(10,420 posts)the mask thing anyway. Is there an official reason? I mean, aren't these the same fucks that wouldn't wear masks during COVID because government wasn't going to tell them what to do?
bluestarone
(20,333 posts)I believe they were told to wear them, because most of them are the STAND BACK and STAND BY ASSHOLES (plus other gang types). These are the type of people that would turn in their mother and father during the hitler years.

(6,689 posts)but carrying proper identity for the same reason why police officers are unmasked, have badges with numbers or other information identifying them as law enforcement, bodycams, and who disclose (usually) what people are being arrested for or charged with.
Whether or not it makes a difference in their behavior, or the ultimate outcome.
Not to mention reports of people being abducted by unidentified (people), for reasons often undisclosed, and even reports of assaults by masked individuals impersonating "law enforcement."
The possibilities for abuse and misuse are endless, we all know the shit storm that would be occurring if a Democratic adminstration pulled this,
and I find it hard to believe anyone would be defending it.
