Rusty Update ...

Doctor visit yesterday - Multiple Myeloma (Kappa). 90% involvement in his bone marrow. Start chemo and immunotherapy next Tuesday for 16 weeks. Adding another drug midway to help with bone damage. After the 16 weeks transfer to KU Medical Center care for autologous stem cell transplant regimen (unless his cardiac MRI shows amyloidosis - which is common in MM patients). Once he goes into remission he will be on maintenance meds.

Rusty is hopeful and excited to start treatment. Holiday gatherings are cancelled. He will mask up everywhere as he will be immunocompromised. Dr is worried about respiratory infections during treatment.

But, in all of this we have food to eat, a roof over our head, and the love and support of so many. We are lucky.

For non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. That was 6 years ago, he’s still very much with us. It’s an arduous procedure but worth it. Best of luck!

Even if the cures aren’t quite there yet, life extension has improved, on average, by a noticeable degree. That’s always welcome news.

KU Med is a great place. They helped my Mom several times. I just kept getting lost on campus trying to find her! (LOL)

Blessings to you and Rusty!

My prayers for your both. For him, I pray for healing and strength. For you, I pray for peace and calm. It's hard to watch someone go through an illness. So, please remember to take care of yourself.

Your attitude of gratitude is inspiring.

You are beautiful people to face trouble with this in mind, really wonderful people.

As such, I can only hope on hope that you come through this intact.

May your troubles pass. All the best to the both of you.
