With all of the wailing about socialism from the GOP. Some interesting results from yesterday's YouGov poll.

Registered voters:
Should the minimum wage be raised to 15$ an hour?
yes 66%
no 22%

Should taxes be raised on billionaires?
yes 70%
no 18%

Do the rich have to much power?
yes 83%
no 8%

Is income inequality a problem?
yes, big problem 52%
somewhat a problem 27%
not a problem 6%

Should the government reduce income inequality?
yes 58%
no 24%

note: YouGov hit the Virginia Governor's race on the nose - 15% spread.

Maybe the DNC should concentrate on nominating the best candidate instead of nitpicking whether they are moderate or conservative?

While a majority of Americans identify as moderates or conservatives, and majority also support progressive policies on all issues with the possible exception of immigration (it depends on how the question is phrased- a majority definitely do not support Trump’s performance on immigration )

It makes sense. You vote candidates in to work for the people they represent, and you pay taxes to provide the money to allow government to do the job you voted them in to do.
In our Constitutional Democratic Republic, the government is expected to do this. The government is expected to help people who can't help themselves; to assist those who need help; to serve the common good. It's just common sense. The stronger the nation is as a whole, the better off we'll all be. The more we help each other, the more we help ourselves in the long run.

This is essentially a modified socialistic model, and it works quite well when applied with love and compassion.
Our current republican government has neither love or compassion. They're a greedy bunch that only wants the government to work for them, at the expense of others.
It's the antithesis of of everything we claim to believe in.
And now we are seeing the beginning of a move back toward the expectation we have always had for our government officials...that they work for us, not us working for them.

Since they were polling point 15-20 yrs ago. I started out of boredom when we moved to the mountains I had more time.

I can tell you over the years the polls tended to slant more people on it we're leaning to the right which means they are picking up more on the left or people are changing.

About every few surveys they ask you what party you are in and if you answer democrat they will ask if you are a strong one or not. They will ask whether you are centrist, liberal or progressive. They also ask what religion you are and if you pray or if you have no religion.

So before they send any surveys to me they kind of already know how I will answer them which makes me wonder if the pick so many on each side or how they pick? Of course they have no way of knowing who will choose to answer which one as many times I am busy and skip one as do many others.
